WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE UP A SCENARIO WHERE NOT SIGNING POSEY WORKS OUT FOR US? sorry bout the caps but there have been countless posts on this and people keep regurgitating the same stuff about "oh it woul have hamstrung us," oh it was too many years.." this started somewhere and people keep repeating it but i don't think i've ever heard anyone with a scenario.please. somebody.
We win the championship without Posey and didn't sacrifice much more of our future financial flexibility. How's that for a scenario that works for us?
The only thing I don't get is the "future flexibility" bit. The only way future flexibility is really going to matter is if we're going to stay at a championship level for the next 5 years without ever dropping down a notch. If even Ainge is going to segue from this era to another very successful era, there likely will be a down year or two where this team isn't a serious contender. The worst Posey could've done was extend that from 1-2 years to 2-3 years, as we may have had to wait an extra year for him to come off the books to free up some FA room.
To me, that's a small sacrifice to make for a surer shot at a title.
Still, Ainge may come up with something. I hope he does. I just don't like the gamble given how small of a window this team has. This could be (though I think they have another year or two) the last real shot this team has.
