I'm so sick and tired of everyone blaming everything on rondo.  I mean nobody has talked about during these last few games about anybody else really.  What about KG lately or Ray Allen's shooting or how about PP tonight.  Pierce was 4-15 shooting, 5 TO's, and he was -19, but all you hear was that rondo cant shoot and was 50% from ft line and that he had a -17.  Its getting old.  Everyone wants to blame somebody and rondo is who most of you all have chosen to blame.  Maybe sometimes the TEAM just loses.  Honestly besides a few games with PP scoring who has played consistently good in the last couple weeks.  Give the kid a break.

Amen... TP!

I'm as big a Rondo supporter as they come, but he's one of the main reasons why we're losing these games. Don't just look at assists per game as a measurement of effectiveness. Some of Rondo's best games have not been statistically sexy. He's either in attack mode or not, it seems. When he is, the offense goes (regardless of the assists per game). When he's not, like what's been the case of late, the offense tends to stagnate, and you see more of Ray handling the ball at the top of the key and passing out of double teams (dribbling his way out of them), and players in general putting up last second shots or getting called for 24 second violations... a lot. The people who pull out specific stats are not doing any service to their stance. Watch the games, make note of trends. Rondo's definitely not the only reason the Celtics are playing as poorly as they are, but his lack of aggressiveness has sure been a cause for concern as well as attribute that has directly led to our losing.

Also, the one part of Rondo's game that nobody ever talks about is that he's more of a scorer than a "point guard." This is not an argument over whether he's a true PG or a combo guard. That's not my point. He is a born scorer who hasn't harnessed his jumper, and doesn't have the fire in his belly to just take the ball to the rim. We all know he has speed, and can finish around the basket. But he constantly slows down the offense by walking the ball up. He literally comes 2 seconds short everytime of getting called for a halfcourt violation. Whatever happened to run & gun basketball? We've seen Rondo erupt against top tier PG's when he's committed to scoring. When he's just walking the ball up, trying TOO hard to get others involved while playing a deferential role in the team's success, ironically the Celtics perform far from their most optimal levels.

Rondo's the guy who ignites the offense. He does it by scoring the ball.

It rings of a desire issue to me.

thanks, DL...i'm also a star wars fan!!  my wife and i have 4 kids ages 9, 6, 5, and 3 so i've got to have a sense of humor.  plus, when i graduated i gained over 100 pounds and ballooned to 305, so i became the humorous fat guy (self deprecating jokes work best for the overweight ones).  but 2 years ago i got serious about my health (i'm only 36) and lost 105 pounds...so now i'm the humorous guy who's not so fat trying to get rid of some excess skin (if you've seen the austin powers movie and remember that one character with the bad name, well that's kinda what i had to get back into shape).  but we gotta laugh at all this...

I disagree entirely. I think he's a natural facilitator ( hence his insistence on forcing the ball to the bigs when he drives as opposed to finishing) and has trouble accepting the role of a scorer despite his skills. To me thats not a desire issue, its a young player trying to get his teammates involved and not quite having a developed sense of when its his time to score and when its his teammates.
I was watching the Suns tonight and saw Nash on the pick and roll go baseline , where he could have made a semi-contested jumper, and kick it back to Richardson. The next play, same pick and roll Nash takes the shot. Thats the sense of the moment that has yet to fully mature in Rondo, when he needs to score and when he needs to pass. Granted his scoring opportunities are going to come in different places then Nash's but its the same concept.
If you want to call it a desire issue, then its his desire to get his teammates involved, not a desire not to win or to avoid physical contact. He would not rebound in traffic the way he does if he was afraid of contact.

the kid is frustrating to watch sometimes. He nailed a good jumper in the 1st quarter. Then never tried to shoot again

There were several occasions where he just needed to shoot the ball to keep the cleveland defense honest.

They were all playing way back daring the celtics to drive in with ray allen the only guy who can shoot(and even worst he is struggling)

shoot rondo!!

he needs to finish stronger...i really love the kid, but he is very frustrating.

imagine if he could finish around the rim like DJ...

when larry stole that pass he would have never thrown the ball if rondo was the one streaking to the rim... :D

exactly, and what even more INSANE is the fact that i've seen Ray miss like 3 layups in the past two games.... i just don't know what to think.

Rondo a scorer?

 ;D

The guy can't shoot, and he's an average finisher at best. The lack of improvement in his shooting is inexcusable.

You can dispense with the All-Star nonsense. His game is marginally better at best, and he's never going to be an All-Star until he rounds out his game. With work he clearly didn't put in over the summer.

I rank him as a disappointment.
