While not ideal, I think the C's should bring back Toine in February if they can't get anything better through a trade or a buyout.  He's far from perfect, but he can command attention on the offensive end, set-up others, and expand the floor with his range.  Moreover, his overall offensive prowess would allow Doc to do the 1 starter + bench lineups for longer periods of time with less damage than he's able to do right now.  Too often when he does that, other teams just collapse on the one star.

If I'm Ainge, I call him now and tell him to get his ass on a treadmill and that if he's lucky, he'll get a second shot in the NBA.

Again, let me reiterate, this isn't some Toine adoration post.  I'd rather have a real backup PG, a dynamic defensive swingman (Posey), or a legit big.  However, if that's not in the cards, Toine is better than nothing at this point.

Yeah, I'll go with nothing, thank you.

According to recent news released about Walker my guess is part of his routine will soon be including community service and some special classes at the DMV.

I've always liked Toine, but I don't think he can give us any more than what we are getting from Powe and BBD.

Maybe not at this point.  I don't pretend to be privy to what his current physical condition is.  However, Toine in his prime--or even Toine a year or two ago--would add more to the second unit than Powe or Baby.  If nothing else, he would spread the floor.

But we're not talking about the Toine in his prime or the Toine of 2 years ago (who wasn't good then either).  We're talking about the Toine that looked done the last time he played.

I vote emphatically for bringing toine back. He has heart, and would be a big boost off the bench at sf/pf, who needs joe smith!
