We lost Theo today, to cancer of the kidney. He became ill quite suddenly but you also know what they say about cats: they're so pesky they don't show you the are hurting. I could see him feeling terrible yesterday, he didn't want to wash himself, so he was a bit smelly and he was just lying around on the kitchen table. We didn't know it was that bad, so we never really got a chance to say goodbye to him. We did pet him (as his little heart stopped beating) when our vet put him down. He was just 5.5 years old. Very sad day for me, I haven't cried this much since my father passed away more than four years ago. You do end up loving those little buggers, don't you? Sad, sad day. Literally crying as I type this. We do end up loving them. ♥ THEO 2006-2012
sorry to hear that ACF.  I lost one of my cats, Melvin, last week due to renal failure.   He was about 5 years old as well.

Thanks and my condolences on your loss. We don't get to keep them for a long time but they become such a huge part of our lives, in the short time they're here. And the sadness that comes with the loss of a pet? It's a beautiful sadness: Mourning a soul mate that only wanted food, water, a place to sleep and some pure old lovin' and if you gave it that, the animal became your friend. That is beauty in life: Pure unconditional love.

This is "Coco", my bulldog french, incredible, a wonderful dog, noble and loving, he's like Paul Pierce, the shape of his head.
Sometimes, Coco puts his lip in a rare, my girlfriend and I thought it looked like Ray Allen (when he chews gum), from now it will not, Ray is not.

Ray left the Celtic family.

Coco also is Celtic fan ;).

For my dear friend here who lost a very special companion today, and anyone else who has suffered similar ... they're never gone, but live on in our hearts.

I LOVED YOU BEST

So this is where we part, My Friend,
And you'll run on, around the bend.
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on; I'll find the strength,
Life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
Share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
But they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
Will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
Take with you this...I loved you best.

    - Jim Willis, 2002

BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

:)

I like the pic, boxers are so sweet. I know someone else who likes the pic, too, right, Nick?  :)

thank Edgar,  appreciate the sentiments.  unfortunately we just lost our 14-year-old pug Winston a couple of weeks ago as well.  Hoping his will be the last passing for us for a while.

Our new dog Sadie, a 2 year old rescued Rottweiler.  She's really sweet, but definitely needs some training in the playfulness area.  She's is an absolute baby when she's mellow (about 95% of the time), but when she gets excited she can be dangerous.  After just 24 hours she has already taken well to some training.  I think she's going to be great!

We got her to keep our 9 year old black lab some company, after we had to put her friend down last Spring.

Yup

Warning: The following photograph depicts a cold-blooded killer. Several hundred mice, sparrows, pigeons, and even a rat or two have lost their lives at the paws of "Cashmere."

So gruesome. You can see the evil in her wittle kitty eyes.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.
