Clever move from the Nuggets front office

Quote
Remy, Denver, CO: With Chauncey's price tag half that of AI's, and the 10 million trade exception still floating from moving Camby, do you see the Nuggets making another big deal and what would they be looking for?

SportsNation John Hollinger: (3:47 PM ET ) Quick note on that trade exception: Denver essentially renewed it, constructing the deal so that they used the Camby exception but got a new one worth $9.79 million out of this trade. The benefit is that they have until November to use it -- the previous one expired in mid-July. So with time on their side, I don't think they'll use the exception unless they find themselves 15 games over .500 in February.

Detroit bad boys is contemplating the cap space they are going to have in the 2010 off season, it may be the Pistons opportunity to get one of the top flight players they should have drafted isntead of Darko. They even mentioned getting both Lebron and Bosh, and quickly admitted it ain't gonna happen, anyways they should be another team in the hunt for top free agents in two years.

Gabe Pruitt better get ready, because we will be done if we expect Eddie House to cover either Stuckey or Iverson.

Tony Allen can handle both of them in single coverage.

TP becuase i was literally going to say the same thing.

I'm starting to like this trade the more I think about it.
Here is how I think the lineup should be for Detroit.

1. Rodney Stuckey (20-24 mins)
2. Allen Iverson(35-37 minutes)/Richard Hamilton (34 minutes)/Aaron Afflalo
3. Tayshaun Prince/Walter Herrmann(this guy has been looking amazing)
4. Amir Johnson/Jason Maxiell/(If Mcdyess comes back, or free agent)
5. Rasheed Wallace/Kwame Brown

If it were Flip Saunders coaching I think this team would be a disaster waiting to happen, but I think Curry is going to get the respect from Iverson and Hamilton if he indeed wants to have Hamilton off the bench (with starter minutes).

;D ;D  You think a rookie coach is going to get the respect of the most overrated player and biggest coach killer in NBA history?  You're kidding, right?

Dumars only did this trade looking for the future. So with the Pistons not likely to make that much noise I predict a repeat of Celtics-Cavs in the ECF.

I think this hurts Detroit. Iverson is not a good defender. Maybe he was in 2001 but that was 7 years ago. I was faster than too (and had a flatter tummy, so there). They don't have anybody to run their offense. Billups killed Rondo last year. Who sits on the bench with their guards?

Oh and if we could get Dice that would be sweet.

I apologize, but after browsing the first couple of pages here, I just don't have enough time this evening (or perhaps this week) to read all 9 pages of this thread. So I wonder if someone be so kind as to offer me (and perhaps other lazy, time-restricted or reading-challenged others) a summary of the following topics that perhaps have been covered ad nauseum:

1) What has been discussed re: McDyess to Boston? Is there speculation he'll end up back in Detroit?  Has he lost a step that I am not aware of?

He may not answer a precise need in Boston (not quite as long as desired to back-up at the 5), but he sure offers an extra big with a terrific mid-range game off the bench.  Why not Boston?

2) I am getting tired just thinking about AI and Rip on the floor at the same time.  Two guys who can score from anywhere and can run tirelessly for 48 minutes.  I'm not sure whether this really scares me, but I think it is interesting.

Lets see if I can summarize for you.

1- There is talk of Dice not reporting to Denver, or perhaps they would buy him out?  If they do, he is free to sign elsewhere.  It is widely assumed he would go back to Detroit after waiting out the Gary Payton 30 day period.  Reports out of Denver seem to indicate they want to keep him there though.

2- Lots of speculation on how Detroit turns out.  Anyones guess I suppose.

My guess is that they lose a few more regular season games, but turn into that team that no one wants to face in the 1st round.  The guys on the Detroit boards seem happy, and most here think Rondo's job gets easier without Billups around.  I can't imagine Detroit's ceiling for this season changing too much, next season and beyond they become a major player however.  One of Joe D's finer moves, IMHO.

I was more looking at if they were on the court at the same time. I was thinking of a Stuckey, Iverson, and Hamilton lineup. Eddie House can't guard any of those 3, but I guess we already knew that.

I wouldn't go that far.  Same can be said of AI trying to defend Rondo.

I think the Celts will be okay because our D thrives when teams don't move the ball, and we all know how AI can stagnate offenses looking for his shot.

I like this trade for Detroit. Who cares about denver.

For the simple fact that I wanna see AI get at least a shot another title run. To me he is a tuff guy to judge over his career.

So interesting to here people debate if he's a ball hog who shoots a horrible percentage.  Or the greatest player ever under 6 feet and under a 150 pounds.

Anyone think he could have won at least 1 title if he was on the lakers instead of Kobe???

I think he would have one at least 1. That's whats  so tuff about your legacy in the NBA. No Titles No Greatness.

I mean really Paul KG. These guys are and have been Great players. with Kg it really drove me nuts, people questioning his ability to win, To take over. It's like man he's obviously One of the best big men EVER!!! Put him in timmy D's position early on He would have won multiple times.

Put Paul with Shaq in his prime he would have won too. Another reason Kobe is Overrated. To  bad for iverson he has to play against the Cleveland Lebrons, And who's that other team?
Oh yeah Us. but I feel like he's been a great player for a long time and I'm happy for the little Mighty mouse to get at least a shot.  You with me???

Prior to this trade, the Pistons had become stagnant and it was highly unlikely that they would get past the Celts in the playoffs.  Now they have a spark, likely a step up from their nonchalant attitude, and I believe they have a more dangerous roster. Couple that with the salary cap relief, this is a no-brainer for Detroit.
