Some congrats are in order...

  • Congratulations Kevin Garnett for passing Bob Pettit (20,880) and becoming the NBA's 27th all time leading scorer and for registering your 1,700th career block!

  • Congratulations Ray Allen for your 4,000th career rebound!

Next up.... KG passing Walt Bellamy for 26th all time career points on his way to 21,000... should be happening within the next 4-6 games.

Thanks ACF and Redz.  TPs for you both!

I am in a 5 month hibernation while studying for the CFA exam and have had little time to keep on this thing... I haven't even watched the Celtics since going to the Warriors game (and as my Celtic-hater friend pointed out, they started sucking right when I committed to this CFA test.... I don't believe in jinxes... but sorry!).

Lol.  I was thinking the losing was my fault! The grandmothers left our house right before Christmas, which meant with newborn baby/recently-gave-birth-wife/rambunctions-2-year-old around I haven't been able to watch the Cs much.  I blamed the losing streak on me, so I'm glad to know it's really your fault!

Milestone update:

  • Congratulations Kevin Garnett for scoring your 21,000 career point in your 1000th career start.

Ray should be hitting the 19,000 point plateau soon, as he is currently at 18,941 points and counting...

  • Kevin Garnett - 4,500 career assists (needs 36th to become 60th all time in the NBA.... in assists.... as a 7 footer).

And some to look forward to:
  • Ray Allen - just 2 points away from 19,000 for his career.
  • KG - 36 assists to pass Sherman Douglas for 60th all time, 40 to pass Hal Greer for 59th.
  • KG - 27 rebounds to pass Patrick Ewing for 22nd all time.

Congratulations Ray Allen, for scoring his 19,000th career point!

Ray also passed Dale Ellis (19,004) and is now 42nd on the NBA all time scoring list.

Here are some career milestones that we might see from the Celtics this year, and some estimations for when they could happen.  If you guys think you might want to check it every now and then (I plan to update it regularly) maybe a mod could make it a sticky, although I know there are several already.

Paul Pierce

Points - 17,773
Milestone: 17,000 - Milestone Reached
Milestone: 18,000 - 227 away, 11 games
*Milestone: 17,336 - Milestone Reached - Pierce passes McHale for Celtics 4th scorer all time
*Milestone: 18,246 (to pass Parrish for 3rd all time in Celtics scoring) - 273 away, 25 games

Rebounds - 4,893
Milestone: 5,000 - 107 away, 19 games

Assists - 3,052
Milestone: 3,000 - Milestone Reached

Notes - Only 23 players in history have accomplished at least 18,000-5,000-3,000.

Kevin Garnett

Points - 21,055
Milestone: 21,000 - Milestone Reached

Rebounds - 11,581
Milestone: 12,000 - 419 away, 46 games (early next season)

Assists - 4,501
Milestone: 4,500 - Milestone Reached
Milestone: 5,000 - 499 away, ~160 games... he has slowed here the most, mid 2010-2011 season, knock on wood

Blocks - 1,720
Milestone: 1,700 - Milestone Reached
Milestone: 2,000 - 280, ~185 away, late 2010-2011 season, knock on wood

Steals - 1,432
Milestone: 1,500 - 68 away, 56 early next season

Notes - Technically, 0 players in NBA history have the minimums in these 5 (or for what KG has now for that matter), although Kareem may have reached the 1,500 steals if they were counted his first 4 years.  For just the PTS-REB-AST numbers, 3 others in history - Kareem, Malone, Wilt.

Ray Allen

Points - 18,998
Milestone: 19,000 - 2 away, Wednesday at Miami

Rebounds - 4,047
Milestone: 4,000 - Milestone Reached

Assists - 3,441
Milestone: 3,500 - 59 away, 21 games

3PT FG Made - 2,204
Milestone: 2,250 - 46 away, 20 games
Milestone: 2,561 (to pass Reggie Miller for most 3 PT made in NBA History) - 357 away, 165 games away (early 2010-2011 season)
Notes - Only Reggie Miller has as many 3PT FGs and PTS-REB-AST.  Take out the 3 pointers and only 20 others have done it.

Rajon Rondo

Points - 1,788
Milestone: 2,000 - 212 away, 19 games

Assists: 1,032
Milestone: 1,000 - Milestone Reached

Rebounds:
825
Milestone: 1,000 - 175 away, 35 games

Steals: 352
Milestone: 400, 48 away, 22 games

Notes - Well... 2,000-1,000-1,000 would not be the most exclusive club, but I think Rondo could be in elite company with his all around PTS-REB-AST-STL numbers in about 10 years.

Kendrick Perkins

Points - 1,716
Milestone: 2,000 - 284 away, 33 games

Rebounds - 1,741
Milestone: 2,000 - 259 away, 32 games

Sam Cassell

Points - 15,635
Milestone: 16,000 - 365 away, N/A... will he suit up?

Assists - 5,939
Milestone: 6,000 - 61 away, N/A... will he suit up?

Technical Fouls - 95
Milestone: 100 - 5 away... he may get this whether or not he suits up.

Pretty amazing to think the Celtic's have 3 players, still producing, that could soon each be among the top 25 or so players in terms of career statistical production.  (Oh, and they've got a ring, to boot  ;D).  Also, KG has a legitimate chance of becoming the new gold standard for all around production, although I don't think he surpasses Kareem or Malone in that status unless he plays a good 5-7 more years.

Oh, and one more...

Boston Celtics

NBA Championships - 17
Milestone: 18 - 1 away, estimated 1 season away  ;)

[updated through Game 43]

Hmmm... Interesting statistics.. Good job Brother. We'll done.. At least we have a bird's eyeview of what our stars might accomplish this season.. Thanks for this interesting information...
