Another boring summer day and time for a new topic. Be honest everyone...

What is your vertical, how tall are you, and can you dunk?

I got about a 30 inch vert (it was 20 a few months ago), I'm about 5'10 and can barely get the ball over to dunk (I've done it a few times though). Hopefully I'll still grow.

It's crazy how you got from 20 to 30 in a couple of months. Congrats.  ;D

Calf raises do wonders, 200 every day plus other jumping exercises.

im 181 cm, i can reach about 243 cm, and i can jump to 310 cm so i guess i have about 65-60 cm, but i can't dunk yet.
it's very strange about me, i can't dunk, but i fell like i have great "hang-time". i feels like when i jump i do just enough to score or make a play...

my vertical is about 6', but it has gone down quite a bit. doesnt everyone's after they turn 12?

how tall? 4'6", but that is because i am sitting down right now. sitting hurts my vertical quite a bit too. with my chair attached, i cant get much over 4'.

dunk? who cant? just now i dunked...good donut, lots of sprinkles.

I'm 6'0, 6'1 in shoes.  I can dunk pretty easily, but it puts so much stress on my knees (specifically my patella tendon) that I don't do it much anymore... pretty much only to show off.  It's a lot safer that way.  When you are over 200 lbs, coming down time and time again really wears on you.  [dang] I feel old saying that.

I think my vertical is about 48" right now...oh wait, I forgot the decimal point...make that 4.8".  Hey, I'm in my 40's now so my jumping for the rim days are over!  I'm 5'8" and when I was in my 20's I could bounce a ball and dunk it (spudd webb style) maybe 1 in 5 times...those were the days!

I’m 6’5”/200-lbs with an 80-inch wingspan. I can dunk with one hand, barely getting my wrist above the rim. I can hang on the rim, 2-hands and pull myself up without the ball. I don’t train to jump nor try to eat right all the time. lol. What is there is pure genes. I estimate that to be a 28-inch vertical.

How do you even measure your vertical leap?  Do you take the peak height that you can touch and subtract your standing reach on your tip toes?  I've never done it before.

I could high jump 6 feet in high school track.  I'm 6-1.  I could dunk back then but now I can just about grab rim.  Getting the old spare tire takes away from the vertical.

Did Jordan have a 48 inch vertical?  I thought it was 42.  Does anyone know LeBron's?  Or Spud Webb's in his prime?

Fun Topic.

I'm 5 foot 9.

I used to be able to dunk before I ripped ligaments in my ankle.  =0( sad day.  anyways its about two years removed from then.

I can grab the rim on a good day now.

However, vertical is actually measured from taking one step and jumping, we do it with our players every year.

A lot of them can get way above the rim when they get a running start, but its a much different story when you do it as if it were a jump ball.

Anyone interested in increasing their vertical, check out the AIR ALERT programs

Old programs, but I still think they are the most effective.

Most people who use it add at least 4 inches to their vertical.  The most I've seen, one of my players added 10.  which was insane.  On average they gain about 4 though.

Goodluck!

im interested in increasing my vertical, im only 5'9, but i can almost grab the rim, if i had 4 more inches of jump to my game it would be awesome.

where can i find the air alert programs?? ???

That's the only way I see that you can do it. But I use my reach at my wrist since I know I can get that over the rim or touching the rim which is about 92-inches. I then subtract that from 120-inch hoop.

I'm 6'2..have around a 30 inch vert.  If I actually put some effort into it I could be alot better but I'm lazy and need to get my work ethic back haha.

5'9"  and many years ago in high school I could dunk a volleyball.  I could dunk two handed on a 9'8" rim...

Today I am old and probably couldn't touch the net!  But I can bench over 300lbs.  Funny how your priorities change with your abilities!!

I just had a brief inspiration to actually go check, but I figured I'd hurt myself trying.  In my prime it wasn't much, so I'm guessing it's less now!
