You are saying he cant play SF? I think you are wrong.  In many games he was covered by the SG SF.  With the clippers him and Sam Cassell were on the floor together alot and therefor he was asked to guard other teams sg's sf's  so infact he really already has played the position.

82games seems to believe otherwise, informing us that Livingston has played exactly zero percent of his minutes anywhere other than the point.

Yes, I have, and I'm not necessarily ready to claim that he has *never* played outside the point guard position as teh reference site does, but I thought it was interesting to note 82games' claim on the matter as they also consider Cassell to be the guy at the two when he and Livingston were on the floor together, which seemed interesting to me.

While I understand that the two point guards played in the back-court at times together, I don't have any recollection of him ever playing the small forward position -- which was really the point I was looking to make here and should have been clearer about that.  Evantime makes an important point -- a big part of what makes Livingston special is his size *at the point guard position.*  Furthermore, the guy's skill set is definitively as a point guard.  He has great passing vision and handles the ball well.  What he isn't is a high-volume scorer or a decent shooter.  At his rail-thin 182 pounds, he's also far from strong enough to be able to hold his own at the three in this league.

I just think its funny that in the league the commish said Childress Could come play in the NBA as long as the owner came up with a good "story" but playing liv at the 3 seems so outlandish.

I have no idea what happened with wldeehi and Childress, so I won't speak to that, and further, I'm not sure it's relevant.

Whether playing Livingston at the three is 'outlandish,' or not, from a basketball perspective it doesn't seem to make much sense.

SW, You've done a good job filling out your roster with players that compliment Kobe. Why don't you post it here?

Also, in retrospect would you have made that trade for Kobe?

I think without LARBRD here, Rondo2287 is just trying to start a ruckus.

You are just plain wrong.  Have you ever seen him play a game?

I mean I appreciate the fantasy value from this, and the awesomeness of imagination, but there is no way livingston will be healthy enough or strong enough this season to play more than 15 mins a game if that. Thats at the point.

He has to have an hour of pre-treatment to do a 20 min run. I mean the guy is extremely damaged goods. Thats just a reality.

To answer your question about what happens when they play teams with front lines of Okafor/Kaman? (I'm not that scared of Oden/Scola) He is going to attempt to turn the game into a track meet. You think Kaman and Okafor can keep up with Marion/AK47/Blatche on the break? not a chance. You pressure the ball on defense and make it hard for them to get the ball inside to the bigs. He has no one to handle Dwight Howard but then again, who does?

I see your point but its a big gamble on his part. He's gambling they will make their shots on offense and get the boards on defense. One thing (the shots) varies night to night, the other (the rebounding) the have a distinct disadvantage. And, I mean I just picked two lineups at random.

What about Tim Duncan? KG? Tyson Chandler? They're gonna get boards over those guys? The outlet has to start with a rebound, thats how fast breaks work. Who's getting the boards? Marion did well at the 4 in Phoenix, but he also had Amare.

Its a team I see winning a few games they shouldn't but also losing a few games they should win

That stuckey/felton backcourt is pretty interesting.  I think a lot of people would argue that stuckey should be the primary point with felton at the 2.  Then againt, felton didnt help that arguement last year seeing as he only shot 28% from 3.

Just a thought.
