i'm just gonna share my thoughts having rummaged through 5 pages i missed last night.

i understand the veto (although i really wanted those 9th rounders, they'd have made all the difference to my team ::)) and i accept it. i think though, if you're going to veto trades including drafted players, you should veto trades of picks also.

example 1 - the roy-redz saga: this isn't an attack on either, i really like both posters but it is lopsided regardless of any justification roy tries to throw at us. redz did it for a laugh, i probably would too.

example 2 - the state of the hornets: the last owner traded away a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th for 2 6th round picks and to move up 10 places to #14 in the first round. tell me how that makes sense?

it's all fun anyway, and credit to wdleehi for running things. for the record, i don't like the fact people have come in, someone in canada and someone in indianapolis, and jumped at other posters for arguing their case when it had nothing to do with them.

i suggest everyone hit wdleehi with a tp for his effort though, it's a small consolation for him i guess for the time and effort (unless on the low he's receiving a pay-cheque for this ;)) that he's put in and continues to put in.

I dont care if you dont think I should have said anything or not, I think hearing him complain is annoying and he was insulting people left and right.  When he refers to people as "the other garbage Gm's" or whatever he said, why should I say something, So how about you get off your high horse celticmaestro because i didn't say anything to you but you found it to be your role to tell me how to post?

Okay, time to step away from being a team owner for a moment, and shift into moderator mode:

Enough with the infighting.  People are entitled to disagree, but it is not acceptable to 1) make personal attacks or 2) spam the same argument over and over.

Now, back to GM mode... wdleehi has control of this league.  He set the league up, contacted members, and made the rules.  His decisions are final.  I haven't agreed with every single one of them, either, but he's by and large done an absolutely excellent job.  If people didn't want to be in a league with a Commissioner veto, they shouldn't have signed up for it.

In all due respect, I think this league is being hi-jacked by one or more self-interested owners, who are trying to rile people up so that their clearly lopsided trade() goes through.  This has nothing to do with Chris Bosh.  That issue was decide, and as I understand, Washington and Golden State have accepted the decision.  The only reason this discussion is still alive is because one owner preyed upon the weakness of another, and got him to agreed to a swap of the #86 pick for the #92, a fifth rounder, and two ninth rounders.  That's the reason we're having this discussion.  Nothing more, nothing  less.  It's not a matter of principle (although I, too, prefer non-veto leagues).  This whole elaborate protest is to make sure a clearly lopsided trade goes through.

Let's recognize this for what it is, and move on, please.

(And I say this as somebody who has frequent conversations with LarBrd33 "off the blog".  We're on good terms and all of that.  I just think he's wrong-minded -- and intentionally so -- on this particular subject.)

I actually prefer a veto league online(That's not to say I agree or disagree with this current veto. I'll stay out of this one.)

Whats stopping one individual from having 2 or 3 user names and 2 or 3 different teams? You might see some real lopsided trades if that were to happen...

I'm grateful that the Moderators on this site take the time to manage and control a fantasy league for us during the downtime of our #1 hobby. :)

Here's what I'm going to propose as a solution.  It's my personal opinion, as a team owner, and has not been discussed with the staff or anybody else.

If both parties think Bosh for 3,3,4 is a fair trade, fine.  Here's what you do:  the Warriors agrees to draft whatever players in the 3,3,4 spot that the Wizards direct.  No matter what, they're bound by the Wizards choices (even though the Warriors have to do the actual picking).

At the end of the fourth round, when all three players have been selected, the two teams resubmit the trade to wdleehi.  If it's fair (even if not precisely equal value) that trade goes through.  If not, the Warriors are stuck with the three guys selected.

I think this is the best solution for all involved.  If people are convinced that they're smarter than the Commissioner, there's a mechanism in place for you to prove it.

I would strongly suggest that the two teams do this.

That sounds like a good solution... The two parties would just need to agree to a deal in principle.

Breaking News...

ORLANDO — The Orlando Magic have scheduled a press conference for later today and are expected to make a pair of announcements.

First, coach Stan Van Gundy has taken a voluntary reassignment as Lead Assistant and buffet protector.  The move is being made so the Magic can bring in Hall-of-Fame Coach HUBIE BROWN to lead the Magic to their first NBA Title.

"Stan Van Gundy is an underated coach, despite his refusal to wear a tie on the sidelines, and will continue to be an important part of our coaching staff," said Magic GM Gainesville Celtic when reached for comment last night. "But Hubie Brown has forgotten more basketball that most of us have ever learned. We think our coaching staff of Hubie Brown, Stan Van Gundy (Asst. Coach/Buffet Protector), Tommy Heinsohn (Asst. Coach/Referee Irritant), and Clifford Ray (Big man coach/Mentor) is second to none."

"And no, I won't do a Hubie Brown impression," replied the GM.

Speculation is that the Magic were enamored not only with Hubie Brown's knowledge and coaching skills, but his philosophy of going 10-deep with his rotation.

Second, the Orlando Magic are expected to announce that they are changing their name, per the suggestion of 7-year old Assistant to the GM Alex "Big Al" Hood, to the Orlando Magics.

When asked if the Magics intended to trade into the 3rd round, for which they are currently without a pick, GM Gville Celtic said "We'd love to but only if the price is right. There's obviously still a lot of talent on the board, but we're not gonna overpay. If Matt Bonner is still there toward the end of the 3rd though, we'll probably throw the kitchen sink at Charlotte and hope they bite."
