Oklahoma City Thunder well there are not many worse names than that I always hated Wizards (Bullets was so much better) and Magic and the. Thunder is a funny team name it sounds like a bad WNBA or MLS name like the Storm, Fire, Galaxy, or Crew. Pretty much as a rule of thumb if the team name does not end with the letter S then they usually are not as good. Still my all time worst name of a sports team is the NHL Minnesota Wild…. The Wild….. The Wild what? Wildcats? Wild what??? Screw their ugly uniforms too.

Someone actually posted the logo
in another thread but I can't
remember who did or in which thread.

I did. 6 days ago. I was hoping that it was just a secondary logo though.

Oh, yeah.
Let's hope they realize their
mistake and change it soon.

I've checked out www.sportslogos.net
a lot recently. They have a forum where
you can post concepts for different sports
teams. What some of those guys have done is
a thousand, no wait... a MILLION times better
than the logo they came up with. Lame, indeed.

I strongly disagree.
They have of one the best
logos in sports, period.
Notice the star which ties
it in with Minnesota hockey
heriage and history (i.e. North Stars)
The star is also an eye.
The mouth that is also a creek
(or a river, maybe?) and the sun
that is also one of the bear's ears.
The trees we know from the Wolves logo.
All those things scream "Minnesota"...
Very creative and all the elements
are great, in my opinion.

And Wild?
"Wild" as in "nature".
That's almost as good as Celtics
representing the history of Boston.
Well, almost  :)

What's in a name...it's OKC..other than the annual rodeo, there is nothing else to do in the winter! The fan support will be amazing even if half the crowd will be wondering why they don't get six points for every basket..

I'm just waiting for opening night. Before the first game Jackie Moon is going to come out singing "Love me sexy". lol I can live with the name thunder (although I preferred the name Outlaws. Oklahoma City Outlaws, I think they could've done more with that)But the Colors... Sheesh. Name is thunder yet the team colors are those of the rainbow. Totally lame. Logo is horrible. Again it reminds me of the movie Semi-pro. But in their defense the initial shock will wear off and folk will get used to it. I felt the exact same way about the bobcats. I thought it was totally lame and sounded like a wnba team. (I still do but i'm used to it now) So I guess same applies here. I just wish they'd change the colors. Thunder to me gets me thinking Black Gray and Yellow/gold For lightning. Name doesn't bother me as much as the color scheme.

You know...I was pretty much kidding about the Angry Pickle thing, but it actually would be an improvement and it really couldn't be any worse from a marketability stand point.

Haha.  I'm sure the man thong / jock strap would play exceptionally well in middle America. ;)

They're a bad team with bad players with a bad logo with bad jersey colors with a name that sounds like a WNBA team. The only pleasure I'll get out of this team's existence this year is the laughs I'll have at their expense twice this season when the C's are up by 20 two minutes into the 3rd.

That's a bit harsh considering in 2 years they'll have one of the best players in the NBA in Kevin Durant and a strong supporting cast (Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, Earl Watson) that will propel them into the playoffs.

Hopefully by then, they'll realise that their logo and colors suck and they'll change them both. Then again, the Bobcats haven't done that yet so...

I haven't seen enough out of Durant to say he'll be one of the best in the league. Especially not in the next two years. He's going to be a good scorer, that's a fact, but he hasn't impressed me enough yet for me to say he'll be a top 10 player in the NBA. Also, I don't condone using Earl Watson and playoffs in the same sentence, and the other two guys we really know nothing about their NBA potential yet. I think you might be jumping the gun a bit. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm very confident that in 2011 the Thunder will still not have made the Playoffs. If I'm wrong look me up I'll buy you dinner.

"The Oklahoma City Thunder"?

And so this is how the Sonics are renamed, not with a bang, but with a whisper?

.....cuz this name is awful.
