I say hold manny's option till you see how the FA market shakes out. Though the problem is, in this years crop, the only thing close to a replacment power hitter is texaria, and he plays 1st with gold glove skills. So, who's breaching that subject to him and youk?

I think they have to decide by November 9th on Manny's option, though.

I really can't see Teixeira, Youk, and Lowell all coexisting on the same team. Youk would probably be traded for an OF. I don't know what to make of it.

I do.  Youk would probably be a gold glover playing any position except catcher or center field.

Reality is if they trade Manny, they need to get some quality pitching help.  The pitching looks old and tired.

Redsox will keep getting an earful from manny until he knows what his future is. Manny is manny. Manny is a sensitive dude

I say the redsox should present three options to manny

1. We won't use the 20 million option BUT we will resign you to a 30 million 2 year deal(15 million for manny livable)

2. We will not resign you after this year but we won't trade you(manny will prob will play crappy though he will think about his future with other teams and play well)

3. Manny we will trade you. As long as we can get 2 or three prospects back it will be ok. One prospect saught should be a catcher as much as possible.

The redsox are a contender right now and we need manny. But the guy is being a professional acting the way he has been lately. ITs a toss up for me

Gammons insights on Manny.  Well worth the read.

What's with the vitriol from Gammons?  He doesn't think Manny has been worth his contract?  He's put up huge numbers and has delivered two titles.  I'd say that worked out okay for the team.

manny's showing up the red sox brass, who gammons unabshidly loves. manny is now peter's enemy. I love peter, best baseball guy in the bussiness, but get him talking red sox, and its how great terry and theo do with the organization, and if you step out of line, he'll bust ya up.

not that manny doesn't deserve a bit of it, but i'm with you roy, HOF numbers aren't worth a contract anymore? ok peter....

but do you ralize how insulting it would be to ask youk to move? or tex?

A-rod did it for jeter, but most of the time, guys don't like to change positions because someone else is "better". i mean, i know we don't think of it the same way, because its baseball and when were out hitting the softball around, you play wherever, but its pretty insulting TBH. Its pretty much saying "yea, your not good enough, we got soemone better"

i'm not saying thats how youk would react, we don't know him personaly, and mabey he'd have no issue, but i would be ticked if i was a gold glover at my prefered position (which both of them are) and then got asked to go play the outfield because the organization thinks i'm not as good as the other guy.

I don't think Gammons feels Manny worth the money, I think he feels Manny feels he don't owe the team that's paid him $168 million an ounce of respect.
