I'm not too worried. Look at the better teams around the league. Orlando has Howard and that's it; Rashard Lewis is their "power" forward. Washington's second biggest guy is Jamison, who's awesome but not huge. Toronto has two tall guys, but neither of them play that big. San Antonio's best lineup is Duncan as their only big guy. Houston and Dallas are small in the front court. New Orleans's power forward is not that big. The biggest team out there is Cleveland when they have Smith and Z on the floor, but neither of them are down-low bruisers. Also the Lakers next year with Bynum could be more of a concern.

I'm just not that worried.

Sometimes, every here and there, our frequent jumpshots don't fall at a decent-enough rate. Therefore, we need all the advantages in rebounds we can get in games, to help bridge that gap.
Remember those 47-33 rebounding advantages earlier in the series we had that just evaporated into thin air in game 5 when Perk was gone?

I'm looking at free agents-

What do you guys know about David Harrison?

What about Chris Anderson? will the Hornets resign him?

Is Theo Ratliff pretty much done?

Bierdins will probably be too expensive...

Alonzo Mourning? He's pretty much done, and if he comes back, it'll be to the Heat.

Elson sounds good to me, but I don't know if we have the money for him. He won a title with the Spurs...

Skinner is a little small, as is Kurt Thomas.

Voskuhl?

Diop I wouldn't mind.

I'm sure Danny has a plan!  :)

Those free agent possibilities do not get me excited.  I would rather the C's drafted Devon Hardin.  We could use a shot blocker.  Pollard may never  play again.  What was the reason he didn't play this year again?  PJ has very little left in the tank.  A trade is possible.  How about trading a couple undersize power forward and an inexperienced SG/SF for a legit back up center, one that is over 6-7, can defend, and block shots?

I just think you are vastly overrating Hardin's ability to help anytime soon.  If they drafted him, the chances of him actually seeing the floor (or even dressing) would have been incredibly slim.

I think Giddens and Walker are vastly overrated.  We has seen the Gerald Green and Kedrick Brown before.  Why would they play more than Pruitt?  The bottom line is the Celtics need size and came up short.

Gerald Green and Brown were both rated highly by scouts. Walker and Giddens have been called underrated by scouts and are going well below their value if all things (weren't) considered  ;D

I hope PJ stays, that would mean a lot. But, otherwise, I don't think size is that big of a weakness because Powe figures to be more athletic next season, Big Baby's girth will mean more with more athletes like Giddens, Walker, Allen, Posey on the floor to run and score on the fastbreak compared to House, Cassell, etc.. Plus, you still got B-Scal to plug in if Powe gets hurt or Big Baby crashes and burns worse than Bryant Reeves, and then you get to stretch the floor and give more room for those athletes to operate anyways.

PJ is still really the staple. His long arms make him like a poor/old man's KG when he's out of the game on the defensive end. Plus he's tough, and southern, and bad-ass.

I seriously doubt that guys like Hardin and especially Jordan will ever play in a NBA game. How many 2nd round centers have done it?

We need a backup center, but not just a tall body who doesn't know how to play basketball. I'd take 98% of the free agents available over any of those guys every day and twice on Sundays.

Yet clearly Giddens and Walker are not them, especially in their skill sets and current development.

Memo to the league, stop drafting athletic guys that love to dunk... Green and Brown sucked, so stay away from them!! Lol.

You are welcome to your opinion on Giddens and Walker.  I disagree about Walker (I don't know enough about Giddens yet).

But regardless, the C's did not need size in this draft.  Yes, they need a backup Center, but there was no one available who filled that need and was not a 2-3 year project at best.  There is no point to drafting someone just because they are tall.

Powe and Davis have a year of experience on a championship team.  It worked for us this season.  Both are also playing for contracts.  They'll be fine.

Davis showed his toughness coming back quickly from that hideous fall.  Powe is the definition of tough in the dictionary.  They also come off a year with the best defensive coach in basketball.  If Davis goes to the Kendrick Perkins conditioning school this offseason, he'll be a beast.

What is Clifford Ray's job if not to develop BIGs like Hardin?

There is a reason Hardin fell as far as he did.  He is not a good basketball player.

Ray does an excellent job...but he is not a miracle worker.

This is a major concern of mine.  Not sure why, but I fear BBD will gain a ton of weight during the offseason.  I just don't trust his self discipline.  I hope he spends the summer in Boston or working out with KG.

Clifford Ray has done well with Al, Perk, Powe and Baby.  Doc has had trouble incorporating Gerald Green, Marcus Banks, Telfair, Allan Ray, Orien Greene, Jiri Welsh, Kedrick Brown, Ricky Davis and maybe Tony Allen.  Doc will have his hands full trying to coach Giddens and Walker (because they are young or have a checkered past like the examples above)--while trying to win a title.
