The answer (or at least part of it) should be Pollard... Very good post defender, tough as nails down low.  Don't know if anyone remembers playin Houston at home (I was there) but the guy played really well for just under 14 minutes.  Along with Perk for 26 minutes, the two made Yao look like a joke (19 points, 42 minutes).  If he doesn't get injured, do we still get PJ?

The problem is the injury was not an isolated incident.  He has been injured a lot the last few years.  I just don't think they can count on him.

Two points:

For those saying that we handled the Lakers down low.....their starting center was out hurt all year. If Bynum comes back, and Gasol can slide down the 4, Odom can slide into a 6th man role.....it will be completely different. Think about the matchups in game 5 when Perk was out. Basically, we were both missing our starting centers, so the matchups may have been a glipse into future Celts/Lakers games.

For those saying we just won a title, why do we need a center.....we don't win that title without PJ Brown. period. He needs to either come back or be replaced. Free agent, trade....whatever. Put me in the "slightly concerned" camp. I am concerned, but I have great faith in #44 to get the job done.

Scal's will get the job done! ;)

Legit concerns, but yes, I'm sure sure Danny is on the ball

I'm looking at free agents-

What do you guys know about David Harrison?

What about Chris Anderson? will the Hornets resign him?

Is Theo Ratliff pretty much done?

Bierdins will probably be too expensive...

Alonzo Mourning? He's pretty much done, and if he comes back, it'll be to the Heat.

Elson sounds good to me, but I don't know if we have the money for him. He won a title with the Spurs...

Skinner is a little small, as is Kurt Thomas.

Voskuhl?

Diop I wouldn't mind.

I'm sure Danny has a plan!  :)

I think TA is probably gone. They know more about the ACL injuries etc. and his recovery than we do.. so I would guess he will leave and sign with someone else, unless he wants minimum. Our main concern is probably resigning Posey, House, a veteran PG, and backup Center like Diop. However, that seems to be too much to ask for. Therefore, DA might stick with House and Posey, and land a cheap backup Center.

What do you guys think if Posey leaves? Will DA then most likely resign TA?

If posey doesn't take the money, and leaves, we could get Diop or someone like that.

I think Kurt Thomas could get the job done.  He'll go in there and bang bodies and throw down a hard foul here and there just like PJ would do. Plus he's great against Duncan, if it were to come down to a Bos/SA series.

I am not worried.

Powe and Big Baby can hold it down through the regular season.  That will buy Danny some time to find the best battle tested 7'er at the most opportune moment.

I have a good feeling we keep a roster spot open all year, and re-sign PJ before the playoffs.

I think most of us have some concerns about our size off the bench next year, but there are two big mitigating factors. 1. After the last couple of years, I have faith the Celtics organization will handle that problem. 2. We just won a title. Let's enjoy it a little bit.
Go Celtics.

He also spent half a season and the playoffs playing with duncan too! It's hard to imagine Birdman in a celtics uniform though. That would be really funny to me to see him wearing green.

I still want the beast Diop. How much do you think he will command? He should be a legitimate 6-10, or 6-11 at least.

I'm sure Danny will work some more magic.

We lost Game 5 by 5 points.
Because we played a sub-par game.
That's really all it was!
Like I said all season:
THE CELTICS ARE THEIR OWN WORST ENEMIES.
Someone asked in a pre-Finals thread if we
were scared of Kobe. I said "Why?"
As in "why should we be scared?"
One man wasn't going to do it.
Look at Jordan...
I'll repeat myself even when the Lakers
have Bynum. Why be scared?
If we play at our best, no one can beat us.
That's a fact. Period.

(Gee, I hope that's a prediction of sorts!)  :)

most teams don't even have a legit front line center, so I'm just grateful we have Perk!!! Any size off the bench is a luxury, and with the way the C's play with either KG or Perk usually on the floor at all times, I honestly don't think "size" is that big an issue for this team... I'd much rather have a guy like Posey who can guard 3 positions and fill in depending on game situations. To me the bigger issue with the C position is Perk not picking up ticky tack fouls. If he can improve in that area (which his growing rep will help, the refs have HATED him) he'll be on his way to being an all-star caliber player...
Now, on to 18...

There wasn't a decent center in the draft when we picked (except Pekovic), so I'm as concerned as I was before. If Pollard gets healthy and PJ comes back after the All-Star, I'm not concerned at all.
