BREAKING NEWS:

PORTLAND TRADING FOR BAYLESS

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2008/06/portland_trades_for_augustin.html

URL says Augustin?

Says the Pacers and Bayless on the link. That's a fantastic trade for Portland. Not just good, it's fantastic. A scoring point guard next to the best point orientated shooting guard in the league. I love it. Great stuff. Great, great, great. Something that makes sense.

Wow ... yup, I agree, Who ... they're stacking the talent in Portland ... this could be one fun team to watch!

I find it humorous that the ESPN analysts act like every player drafted will be a 10 time all-star.

Have they said "tremendous upside potential" yet?

I'm still waiting for Anjica to get picked... that will probably mean more talent that can help instantly dropping for the Celtics.

Great pick for the Blazers. I'm predicting him to be a top-6 player from this draft in a few years.

Also, am I the only Celtic fan who thinks that Mario Chalmers could be a good fit for us at #30?

Not good, outstanding. Not happening, though.

Phew, at least there's somebody else out there who likes this kid too.
He has received like ZERO hype on this board.
I was talking about him for a while before the draft but all I heard were the crickets.

Well NBA DraftExpress has Chalmers going in the late 20's, and he hasn't been getting a lot of press/hype either, so who knows, it could happen at #30.
The real question is, does Ainge like him too?
I rate Chalmers ahead of Westbrook.

Guess how much I hate that Sonics pick?

Chalmers isn't getting enough love. Rumour is he had a promise ahead of the Hornets #27 and that was a big part of the reason they sold the pick. So we'll probably see him off the board in the twenties somewhere.

I agree.  Augustin is going to be a terrific player in the league.  He actually reminds me of TJ Ford in college a little even though the analysts think he'll be better.  Maybe its just the same uniform...

Brandon Rush is a good pick. He'll be a solid player next to Brandon Roy, that would be a nice large backcourt.

Portland are loaded with talent on the wings now - Roy, Rush, Outlaw, Martell, Rudy.

Portland is a loaded team with young upcoming quality players.

But they need to decide who they want to stick with and get them minutes otherwise they won't ever become a good team.

Portland will need some veteran leadership, and they have the chits to go and get some

7 of the top 10 players available, according to ESPN, are 'bigs'.

That Phoenix Suns pick was idiotic. Robin Lopez at 15? The kid average 5 boards a game in college.

Phoenix is desperate for help on the wings and desperate for a backup point guard. Guess what they didn't need?

Robin Lopez does nothing better than Brian Skinner. I ask what is the point in this selection?

Stevie Kerr you're letting me down.

He doesn't get hype because he isn't flashy and doesn't have "upside". But he'll be a solid backup/fringe starter in the league for many years.

Well, there you have it.  Hibbert is gone.  Close down the Tobin.

I would be surprised if Hibbert even sees the floor this season.  Jim Obrien is going to HATE him.

Speights is an excellent pickup for the Sixers. Talented power forward with big upside. Really nice pick. I'd be delighted with that if I were a Sixer fan.

Roy Hibbert taken at #17 for Indiana. Kinda slow for their fast paced offense. Not sure why Larry drafted Roy? oh yeah it's Larry. Luckily Larry probably can't do badly enough that he'd ever be run out of town.

Roy being taken off the board will upset a few teams picking soon. Lot of bigs have gone early. What bigs are left?
