Article makes it appear Lue has spoken to several teams and is deciding between Boston or Dallas.

Ah, I scooped you. TP.

Or, maybe Sam and Tyronn Lue.

Lue just wrapped his ninth year in the league as a reserve guard with the Dallas Mavericks. Now he’s an unrestricted free agent, and the possibilities for his next destination appear bright.

“I’ve been talking to seven or eight teams,” Lue said. “I’ll probably end up going to Boston or back to Dallas.”

I'm sure GMs and agent cringe when they hear players admit to "talking to seven or eight teams".  Teams aren't allowed to negotiate with free agents until July 1, so basically, Lue is admitting that several teams -- including in all likelihood, Boston -- are tampering.  This happens all the time, of course, but most people aren't going to admit it, especially to a reporter.

I'd rather keep Eddie House than bring in Lue.

Jerry Stackhouse has already admitted that when he gets traded next deadline that he's just taking the month off and going back to Dallas. ;)

I'd take Eddie over Lue any day ... there's other players far more expendable, and we can do much better with our trades.

I agree with those that prefer House to Cassell (or Lue). But who expects House to be available again for a short veteran's minimum contract? With no guarantee of steady playing time? (To read this weeks papers, it could be a crowded back court.)

If he does go. I'm going to miss Jaelen just as much.

I'd much prefer keeping House and either sign a 2nd stringer like Duhon making Eddie the third string PG or just make him the full-time back up while giving Pruitt a chance.

Lue does NOTHING for me. I guess he would take care of the ball okay, but I've never been a fan. This doesn't shock me though, as I seem to recall that he is pretty good friends with KG and might have even helped convince him to accept the move to Boston.

imo its been WAY WAY WAY over-dramatized house's ballhandling. its not great but its been passable for the most part and generally when hes in there paul is making the plays which i actually LIKE. when rondos in he should be the playmaker but when hes not i WANT paul facilitating on a short time basis. it keeps him involved and it makes him even more dangerous. eddie keeps the ball moving out there he doesnt take many bad shots out there or stop the flow. hes a game-changer when hes on the floor. he gives energy and hustle. im all set with rondo, eddie and gabe pruitt being our ballhandlers next year.

I totally agree. You could say people have gone too far in trashing his defense also. The guy was solid all season when the Celtics were a machine - and he was a big part of it.

I have no interest in Ty Lue at this point. The Celtics can do better for themselves than him.

if you would recall the first half of the season, the non-cassell part, house did pretty [dang] well as the backup pg- our record was pretty good going into the allstar break and would back that up.

People liked House all year, but what short memory we have... have we forgotten the ton of "We need a better back-up PG" threads that were made throughout the season?

It made him a huge liablity in the detroit series, nothing about his ball handling skills was over drmatcized. he can't dribble against a good FC PG (like hunter)

that being said, i don't think lue is a good fit for this team. though you have to wonder if both he and sam are convinced they have jobs here next season because both are good friends of KG....

If we are after Lue, that clearly indicates that we won't sign Sam, but that doesn't rule out House, who can still play SG. However, I would rather have House playing at PG and Pruitt developing into second string. But we would only sign Lue for the veteran's minimum, House knows he can get bigger money elsewhere, so maybe he's the alternative (or backup plan) if House decides to play somewhere else.
