Let's start with the fact that I live in Gainesville, FL (originally from Sharon, MA and my father played for the state title in the old Garden).

So I am going to a Super Wal-Mart (don't kill me) and as I am pulling in wearing my 4 year old C's hat (which I had custom embroidered with "The Truth" on the side) and sporting my Celtics front-plate that my Dad bought in 1997, I hear some guy walking with his kid past my car say "Jumping on the bandwagon I see".

I slammed my brakes, put the window all the way down and said, "Excuse me?".  He said "Oh, jumping on the bandwagon I see".  So I said, "Yeah, actually I was a shareholder from the day I was born until the day they sold the team in 1992, but thats a great way to teach your kid how to talk to people he doesn't know."

He shut up pretty fast, but it's so funny.  I have lived here for 12 years and had that same plate on my car the whole time and not a single person ever said anything 1 way or another about it (maybe a few pity comments).  But now, I'm "on the bandwagon".  Priceless.

We are all on the bandwagon and as far as I am concerned there's room enough on this bandwagon for everyone except the following:

1. Laker fans are not allowed the bandwagon.
2. Issiah Thomas is not allowed near the bandwagon.
3. Skip Bailis needs to be run over by the bandwagon.
4. Those wearing Yankee caps are not allowed on the bandwagon.
5. People who like the Celts because they are supposed to be a "white" team will be thrown off the bandwagon.
6. Dyane Cannon's face cannot be seen anywhere near the bandwagon.
7. 90% of the national media can only watch as the bandwagon passes by
8. 76'er fans should not be seen near the bandwagon
9. Mitch Lawrence (whoever he is) is banned from the bandwagon.
10.Jon Barry is never allowed to even talk about the bandwagon.

Did I forget anyone?

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I make sure to wear my old Celtics gear out so people don't do the same to me.  I hate bandwagon fans, or people that wear the gear just because it looks good.  If you can't appreciate my Dana Barros jersey, then we probably shouldn't talk Celtics.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Wait - you're not allowed to be a Yankee fan and a Celtics fan, even if it's not publicly?

Uh oh.

Uh oh.

The committee could over rule me on this one, but I would think cheering for one dynasty is enough.  Thus the Canadians, Cowboys and Man U would also be in this category.

Okay,

Well I guess I'm booted from being a Celtics fan.  To me they're one of the only few reasons to watch the NBA so I guess it's back to watching football, baseball, and college basketball for me - which an occasional dose of hockey.

(If anything the Red Sox are the closest thing to a dynasty now - Yankees haven't been one for almost a decade)

Don't worry about it, man.

No one outside of my family that knows my name in real life even knows I watch the NBA, much less have kept up with the Celtics for just about a decade.

Needless to say my list is tongue in cheek.  But the Yanks w/ 26 rings are the only dynasty in baseball.

LOL I hear ya.  However, I was smart enough to only wear my Celtics gear when I went to Game 2 of the Finals.  If only everyone had known they had a Yankees fan in their midst  ;D

what's more important is your geographical location.... GVILLE!  I don't think i've ever seen your car... but sounds like we got our own little CelticsblogSouth contingent! I've got a celtic round on the back of my beat up Nissan...

About once a year i'll see someone in a Pierce jersey at Publix or something.  Mabye that was you?

I have been supporting the Celtics for over 22 years. On my groom's cake at my wedding (2000), I had a big Celtics logo. I wear C's t-shirts all the time. But yesterday, someone called me a Laker's fan because I suggested Danny trade Ray Allen this summer. Very disappointing!!!  :(
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I hate all this, you're not a real fan stuff. There is no such thing as a "real" fan. Everyone cheers for teams in their own way, and those of us who've been C's fans our entire lives shouldn't care if there are now more folks interested in the team... good, the more the merrier. I hope we convert as many as we can!!!
Now, on to 18...
