It's a tradition! Even the Mormons back in the day, Kite and Ainge, celebrated with Champagne and cigars!!!
This is patently false. I even have a video called "1984 - Pride and Passion" about the Celtics season that proves it. When they show the victory celebration in the locker room, Ainge and Kite are perched up in their lockers to avoid the champagne. They're smiling and watching while everyone else is playing with the bubbly.

Mormons don't smoke or drink alcohol - not even to celebrate NBA championships. Sorry.

(Yes, I am a Mormon. No, I'm not offended - really. However, I do feel a duty to correct people when they perpetuate misinformation. And finally, since I find that so many people know so little about Mormons, let me say that I'm perfectly willing to be a source on this blog for information regarding Mormons and their beliefs.:))

All I know about Mormons is what I have read in the book Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer which I read in high school.  It is a pretty anti-mormon book IMO and that is pretty much all we talked about in class (the bias of the author).  The one girl in my class who is a Mormon was extremely offended by the book and constantly defending herself and her religion against some immature kids.  I have always wanted to ask a Mormon if they have read that book and what they think of it?

so...Have you read it?  And what do you think of it?
When I'm in the gym...I like to grunt when  I get my swell on... That way everyone can see how jacked and tan I am.

Yes that smoking will destroy your career won't it. Just look what all that drinking and smoking did to babe ruth ;D

I'm sort of new to the blog, but is there awards for the dumbest threads of the year? I have a nomination I would like to share.

BTW is their any way I can get the last 5 minutes of my life back?
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Lots of players in the NBA smoke.

Lots of players in the NBA inhale.

For additional details, go ask Josh Howard!

You know, I haven't. I'm not opposed to reading it, but it just hasn't been high on my priority list.

From what I understand, the book spends a lot of time talking about various sects that are off-shoots from the LDS (or Mormon) church. These off-shoots are, by definition, an intentional divergence from the LDS church and its doctrines. They are not connected to or endorsed by the LDS church in any way. They may claim the same doctrinal roots, but the result is almost always a fundamentally different religion. Unfortunately, they often refer to themselves as "fundamentalist Mormons" - whatever that means - which confuses everyone else. The "Mormons" are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Everyone else that uses some variant of the word "Mormon" belongs to an off-shoot sect that has nothing to do with the LDS (Latter-Day Saint) church.

I know Krakauer has received rave reviews for this alleged "objective" piece of work. I'm sure he says plenty of things about the church that are true. But I suspect that more often that not, he takes things out of context, doing the reader a major disservice. I've certainly heard that the anti-Mormon bias is thinly veiled at best. Certainly, Krakauer is not going to be your best source for information about the LDS church. It would be kind of like going to a Lakers blog to learn about the Boston Celtics.  ;)
