Excuse me for polluting your anti-smoking thread, but:

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Cigars are NOT inhaled by humans and especially any so atheletic lungs such as these specimens of health posess.

Anyone would choke by inhaling cigar smoke especially an athelete.

Relax, its only a tradition, a classy tradition done in celebration, that can be aromatic and pleasurable; Never inhaled!

Live and learn, I suppose~  ::) (Laughs at the joke)

It's a tradition! Even the Mormons back in the day, Kite and Ainge, celebrated with Champagne and cigars!!! The stogies are in honor of Red and nothing else... Now, if Pierce starts popping up with Joe Camel in ads, then you've got an issue.
Now, on to 18...

I think it's great... Pierce can keep puffin those stogies for the next week, because you know he'll be the same Truth next year.  The stogies aren't going to hurt him, I can't even believe we're debating this.

I still smell like a cigar nearly 12 hours later, time for a shower!  Was a GREAT day though, couldn't miss it.
Who said the East was the JV conference? See you next year, Mr. Bryant!

all year i've worried like many others on the big 3's health, their conditioning. when they won, i think ever single celtic puffed a cigar, even doc. yes i understand it's for red but today during the parade, they did it again. and it's not like its really just for show either- they're really puffing away, especially pierce.

Quote
For example, in mainstream smoke there is about 3 mg of nicotine/gram of tobacco smoked in cigars compared to 0.6 to 1.4 mg/gram of tobacco smoked in cigarettes. Cigars have also been identified as increasing the risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and coronary heart disease compared to nonsmokers and the risk increased with greater smoking (New England J of Medicine, June, 1999, p. 1773-80).

i don't want any celtic to get too comfortable with this smoking business. am i the only one who cares about this? if they're all a step slow next year, don't blame it on their age, blame it on this. celebrate differently. i'm not sayin it's going to kill them. merely affect their conditioning when age is already not on their side.

can't get behind you here, i don't smoke, but i have a cigar 4-5 times a year. and, as others have said, you don't inhale cigar smoke.

You physically can't, its different than cigarette's. Thats why studies have shown that, while still addictive, cigars are 1/100th as potent as cigarettes because you get much less transfer of nicotine to blood. (you certainly still get some, obviously)

Ive yet to want them outside of special occasions in the last 12 years....I smoke 1 at the 4th of july, one to start the celtics season, one to end it (this got upped to about 4 over the last 3 days, but the WE FLIPPIN WON!!!! parties are settling down, it used to be me solo on the deck here, thinking about when i'll get to see my own title) and probley 1-2 during the summer during weddings/ friends kid's births.

Good enough for Red, good enough for me.  He lived a long time smoking them.

About inhaling: Pierce was clearly inhaling cigar smoke during the parade. Watch the videos.

And he got quite sick at the end of the parade. He even tried to get the TV cameras to take a shot at the spot on the curb where he lost his lunch ... they declined, fortunately. I don't think there's much chance that he will become a habitual nicotine user from this brief episode ... I expect he really won't want a cigar today!

if he was inhaling, then he doesn't know how to smoke one (logical) and thats why he throw up.

I throw up the first time we had on on july 4th, because i tried to inhale.

who cares?!?!  its in honor of red and done in a celebratory fashion.  where is your celtic pride, that you would honestly create a thread like this? as a celtic fan, u should know the tradition behind it and not have any type of issue.

u never saw or heard anything b4 about them smoking b4 they won the title....why should u be worried they will now all of a sudden will smoke?  as i stated previously, this is the type of ridiculous thread that makes me support bringing back the "taketh away" feature!

Well you sure made it seem like you're afriad, by making a whole thread about it. I don't really understand why a few cigars is any worse than one cigar... Smoking 3 or 4 cigars because you just achieved your lifelong goal doesn't = being a chain smoker.

There's actually a brand of cigarettes
with the funny name "Lakers" here in
Denmark. I just can't find a picture
at Google images...
Too bad, 'cause we kinda "smoked" LA, right?

Well, this'll have to do:

This is patently false. I even have a video called "1984 - Pride and Passion" about the Celtics season that proves it. When they show the victory celebration in the locker room, Ainge and Kite are perched up in their lockers to avoid the champagne. They're smiling and watching while everyone else is playing with the bubbly.

Mormons don't smoke or drink alcohol - not even to celebrate NBA championships. Sorry.

(Yes, I am a Mormon. No, I'm not offended - really. However, I do feel a duty to correct people when they perpetuate misinformation. And finally, since I find that so many people know so little about Mormons, let me say that I'm perfectly willing to be a source on this blog for information regarding Mormons and their beliefs.:))
