all year i've worried like many others on the big 3's health, their conditioning. when they won, i think ever single celtic puffed a cigar, even doc. yes i understand it's for red but today during the parade, they did it again. and it's not like its really just for show either- they're really puffing away, especially pierce.
For example, in mainstream smoke there is about 3 mg of nicotine/gram of tobacco smoked in cigars compared to 0.6 to 1.4 mg/gram of tobacco smoked in cigarettes. Cigars have also been identified as increasing the risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and coronary heart disease compared to nonsmokers and the risk increased with greater smoking (New England J of Medicine, June, 1999, p. 1773-80).
i don't want any celtic to get too comfortable with this smoking business. am i the only one who cares about this? if they're all a step slow next year, don't blame it on their age, blame it on this. celebrate differently. i'm not sayin it's going to kill them. merely affect their conditioning when age is already not on their side.
can't get behind you here, i don't smoke, but i have a cigar 4-5 times a year. and, as others have said, you don't inhale cigar smoke.
You physically can't, its different than cigarette's. Thats why studies have shown that, while still addictive, cigars are 1/100th as potent as cigarettes because you get much less transfer of nicotine to blood. (you certainly still get some, obviously)
Ive yet to want them outside of special occasions in the last 12 years....I smoke 1 at the 4th of july, one to start the celtics season, one to end it (this got upped to about 4 over the last 3 days, but the WE FLIPPIN WON!!!! parties are settling down, it used to be me solo on the deck here, thinking about when i'll get to see my own title) and probley 1-2 during the summer during weddings/ friends kid's births.
