From a "day after" prespective the Lakers collapse is just as big a story as the Celtics comeback...

I think, as others have said, since so many ESPN analyst picked the Lakers to win, this series is being covered through their perception of how they thought the series would turn out.

Case in point, afer the game when Wilbon and Barry were asked their thoughts, they both lead with "wee, since I picked the Celtics to win the series..." and before the game Screamin' A. Smith said "Since I picked the Lakers..."

So, I will agree with you that ESPN's overwhelming belief that LA was going to take this series has altered how they have covered it.

However, in no way do I feel slated as a C's fan. To me it just seems like we're catching a little taste of our own medicine...and we've been on the other side of the table more often than not
"      “I can make a trade every day if I want to, but that's not going to help us. A trade that would get us better rarely comes along. They're very difficult to find. Good trades are very difficult in our league and don't happen very often.”

The Media got so caught up in the Lakers offense. They look great playing up and down West Coast ball.

The Cavs and Pistons really helped prepare the C's for smash mouth East coast ball. The "experts" should have seen this coming. They were too busy kissing Kobe's be-hind.

In all honesty, this seems a little like "the Pot calling the Kettle black" to me.

Throughout this entire preseason, season and playoffs the Celtics have been absolute media darlings. To say that ESPN doesn't want to talk about Game 4 is ludicrous. If you ever have to wonder why people around the country have disdain for Boston fans, look at example number 1 (this topic.)

If eight KG Gatorade commercials, one "big 3" sporscenter add every game and the headline story on Sporscenter 6 nights a week over the last month aren't enough to keep Celtics fans from complaining, the rest of the country has a right to hate on us.

We get more than enough media attention, ESPECIALLY FROM ESPN!

I just think to claim otherwise is shortsited and untrue

You couldn't be more wrong. They did get love in the season I'll give you that, but since Atlanta they were shoved aside like they had the plague. Nobody wanted to associate themselves with Boston becasue they didn't think they had the heart to win. they wanted to make themselves look smart and go with LA. Mike Turdico said that he thought the lakers in 5 mabey 6 before the series. I didn't have too big of a problem with them picking LA, I just didn't like the reasons why they picked them. They zeroed in on one playoff series(hawks) and used that as their backing for the predictions. If Boston had an easier time getting through the fisrt couple rounds, they might have given them a little respect. But they ignored the good things about this team and went with the sexy pick and Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.d themselves out like I said in an earlier post.

As far as gatorad, this is a totaly different seperat thing. It has nothing to do with the media and so called experts.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

The haters will never give this team their due. I frankly do not care.

We run out to the best record in the league and it's, "You haven't played the West."

We beat the West 25-5 and it's, "You haven't played in the playoffs."

We get to the Finals and it's, "Oh, oooh... Hotlanta and Cleveland took you to seven games..."

We lose a few road games and it's, "The Celtics can't win on the road." Then came the Detroit series.

We beat the crap out of the Lakers in games one and two and it's, "Kobe's overdue." Unless that's a good thing, because as we saw last night, no Kobe field goals equals a 20-point LA lead. Get your talking points straight, people.

The haters will always find a way to chip away at us, people.

If we win the title it'll be, "This Celtics team isn't built for the long haul, the Big Three are getting old, yada yada." Enjoy drinking your sour-grapes Loserade. We don't want your support.

They're already calling the Celtics old. Thompson for SI mentioned how the Celtics didn't give up because the chance is so precious especially after how long GPA have waited which is true but called the Celtics an old team (implied this is our one shot) and proclaimed LA to have a five year window. I say to heck with them.

^^ for all the people who think we're not getting our due. Look at this article by Marc Stein. Very candid and very complementary.

A couple of quotes:

"Indeed. All of Lakerland -- as well as those countless know-it-alls like me who picked L.A. to win the so-called Rivalry Revisited -- has to see it now."

"Paul Pierce, after all, has been the best go-to guy in this series. Which is to say better than Bryant, no matter how many of us forecasted these Finals as some sort of victory lap for the MVP."

At least HE is owning up.

Interesting conclusion since many (probably him too) thought the C's would not make it to the finals this year and had 2-3 year window. Now it is shortened to 1? Also teams that are 'too old' woulkd not be able to win game 4 and come back from a huge deficit. The ones that looked old certainly weren't on the C's team.   8)
