Last night's second half announcing and postgame comments all seemed to focus around the Lakers choking and giving it away and very little to do with the stifliing C's defense, heart, and effort.

And this frustrates me because when the Lakers comeback fell short in Boston the focus again seemed to be on what an outstanding job the Lakers did getting back into it and not on the Celtics giving up. Although the attention the Lakers got that night was not to the point of last night's focus being on the Lakers.

Couldn't agree with you more...that was something that I meant to note as well, not enough credit for the C's defense (especially Pierce)...you are right on the Game 2 analysis as well, it was all about the Lakers failed comback, not the Celtics' collapse or the Celtics pulling it out.

While I am typing I just was rewatching the game, and I notice that at half time, Jon Barry says "I'm goin to have to start giving the Lakers defense some credit," nothing wrong with that particularly after the C's start, but Stu Scott then interjects there with a "finally".  Very professional.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was thinking the same thing. I have XM Radio so I listen to Mike and Mike during the workday. Here is the email I sent to them this morning and Mike Golic's response.

One of the greatest NBA Finals games and you have spent almost every second since I turned on the radio talking about this foolish astronaut call! Wake up!

HAHAHAHA... that's great. go get 'em.

Even when/if (can't jinx it) the Celtics close this series out the national news won't be saying "BOSTON IS WORLD CHAMPS", they'll be saying, "LAKERS COLLAPSE" or "WHAT HAPPENED IN LA?" ... the stories will be about how determined Kobe is to get to this same place next year, and the lessons he's learned. They'll be about some random piece of adversity that the lakers "kept quiet" but that really affected the series in an unfair way. They'll be talking about Phil's hip, and how it took away from his ability to coach. But we can rest assured, knowing, that our Celtics did something great.

Man this whole series has been about the Lakers from a national standpoint.  If the Lakers had won game 2 it would have been the greatest comeback in play-off history.  The Celtics more or less does the same thing and the story is about how the Lakers choked.  I guess the Cs won't get the credit but who cares as long as they get the Rings

Good team play and defense isn't sexy enough for our nations media.  Kind of like posters here saying San Antonio and Duncan are hated because they are boring.
I caught a snippet of Julius Erving (UMASS!) and he spoke about the league compared to nba in early years.  Less solid play more highlights etc. This is what espn and the bunch want.  Top ten plays are generally home runs and guys dunking it!  Ray Allens reverse layup is a top ten play.  Look at soccer eurocup goals (2nd turkish one) great highlights.

Evry win they had has been over shadowed by something else. It's a load, and the media is showing that they are nothing more than Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s to whatever they think will ever make for a bigger story. It was sickening in game 3 when I heard Breen just lose his composure in excitement with the lakers. I didn't hear him shout "Bang" after we made a back breaking 3 like the eruo did. I can honostly say that I have lost all respect for the main stream media during this series. They have the right for their opinion and picks, but it was the way they did it. If these guys are suppossed to be knowledgable, how could they have ignored the strengths of Boston and give the advantage heavily to LA? USA Today might of well have said "Boston doesn't need to show up" with the way they broke down the match ups. But now we have shown them what pompuse fools they are >:(

I agree with everyone else in here..the media has definitely put the Lakers on a pedestal. During there Game 2 comeback vs The Celtics, it was apparent there bias...Great comeback..the Lakers should take the confidence into the next game. Now, after last night and one of the Greatest Comebacks in NBA Finals History by a road team in a venomous environment, they emphasized the choke of the Lakers. Where was the talk of a choke of the Celtics in quarter one...no, it was the Lakers played a dominant performance..What did Gundy say...I guarantee it will be 2-2 going into Thursday. Great foot in your mouth prediction there. I think the announcers never got over their own arrogance and they want this series to go as long as possible for obvious reasons.

But when we turned it all around in 2nd half, it was Lakers choked when in reality, when we turn the Defensive switch back on, nobody, and I mean, nobody can beat us.

Last night, the Lakers did not choke..the Celtics woke up and turned it back on. One step away from greatness..maybe it will take another "Laker Choke" on Sunday to finally give the Celtics their due. 5-1 is 5-1. Better Team = Better Team.

i was listening to Dan Patrick today and he said it was a Lakers collaps more than a Boston comeback. Then he goes on to say that I gave Boston credit all morning but LA stopped doing what worked. There is a reason for that moron, its called defense. We put the screws to them and stopped what they were doing. I didn't see a team that fell asleep last night. Instead I saw a team that was stopped by great D.

Mike Breen and Stuart Scott are complete tools and company men. They couldn't hide their disappointment over Boston's comeback.

...is this supposed to be pay back for all those games Tommy used to call nationally?

It doesn't matter to me, as long as they are Champions!  We will get plenty of props after the clinching game and into next season.

Yeah, the media can avoid talking about it all they want right now, but after the Celts win, they'll all be forced to refer to our beloved Celts as the "Defending NBA Champions" for the next 12 months. And I'll smile every time they say it.

In all honesty, this seems a little like "the Pot calling the Kettle black" to me.

Throughout this entire preseason, season and playoffs the Celtics have been absolute media darlings. To say that ESPN doesn't want to talk about Game 4 is ludicrous. If you ever have to wonder why people around the country have disdain for Boston fans, look at example number 1 (this topic.)

If eight KG Gatorade commercials, one "big 3" sporscenter add every game and the headline story on Sporscenter 6 nights a week over the last month aren't enough to keep Celtics fans from complaining, the rest of the country has a right to hate on us.

We get more than enough media attention, ESPECIALLY FROM ESPN!

I just think to claim otherwise is shortsited and untrue

It is ridiculous though that in the Finals they are being overshadowed by the Lakers when the C's are up 3-1. Lakers got plenty of attention when they got Gasol as well.

Even after game 4, one of the guttiest team performances in finals history, all i am hearing today (columnists, jim rome, lakers) is how the Lakers choked, rather than the Celtics won the game.

that equals little credit to the Celts. but i guess when all but one of the espn expert board picked the Lakers to win this series, they have to come up with some justification for the fact that the Celtics are simply the better and hungrier team.

this series has proved to be about pure Boston Celtics unselfish team togetherness - and I am Loving it !!!!!

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett
