Thanks, cdif.  My son really taught me a life lesson last night.  And as KG said in the postgame presser, we still can learn things every day.

While I never turned the game off, at times I did feel like it.

(Although I did play Grand Theft Auto 4 during halftime. There's nothing lke driving a burning ambulance full speed into a gas station with a half-dead prostitute in the back to vent frustration.)

I got home last night after being on the road for 13 nights.

As I was exhausted, I literally went to sleep before tip off - only to wake up and turn on the TV to find out the score.  I turned the TV on just as House hit the shot to take the lead... 4:09 left in the game.  I never fell back to sleep until after 2:30.

I love this team!!!!!

on the road for 13 nights? is there a secret life to sshorefan that we should know about? Well thanks for waking up at the right moment, you should sleep through the next game too and wake up around 10 minutes left, just to be safe....

I absolutely woke up this morning not sure if what I watched last night was real, making it even sweeter in the morning =)

You aren't a fool. You used your best judgment at the beginning of the series to predict who would win. I was with you about the Lakers winning in 6. They had a great coach and great intensity and cruised through the west while we fought it out in 3 tough series. Everybody thought the Lakers would win, with the exception of 90% of Celticsblog posters (who picked the C's to win due more to their undying loyalty than their objective assessment - sorry, it's true). That's the beauty of sports. Nobody really knows how the teams will match up and perform until the series begins. Once the series unfolds, the people who picked the winning team gloat and brag about how smart and prescient they are and those who picked the losing team apologize and admit they knew nothing.

And let me add that the series isn't over. Let's not get too cocky.

I AM A FOOL.

I am a Celtics' fan of 45 years who thought the Lakers would win this series in 6.
I want the Celtics to win so much that when they get behind I get angry and irrational.
I thought that Phil (the cadaver) Jackson was a better coach than Doc Rivers.
I only watched the first and fourth quarters last night. Checked ESPN for scores during the other two quarters.
I (like a lot of you) thought Ray got old overnight - he now may win series MVP.
I thought Kobe would singlehandedly will the Lakers to the championship.

one thing that got me through was "hey, as bad as our team was last year, they managed to beat the spurs, who they havent beaten since TD came to the league" now if that was possible, why cant they come back?

Guys, I almost teared up reading this post. I just can't get over this. I moved to Maine when I was 5 after my dad died. My grandfather and I used to watch Celtics games together and he made me a fan. It's been 19 years for me watching this team. I really remember starting to follow them during the 93-94 season when Dino Radja was my favorite player. I've always stayed positive, I've always rooted for our boys during wins or losses. As much as you felt a fool last night, I've felt a fool for years, unable to explain to people why and how this team means SO much to me. Right now, without playing another game, this is already better than the Red Sox world series, better than the Patriots superbowls. This is the Boston Celtics. YOUR Boston Celtics. OUR Boston Celtics. Man oh man. I'm speechless, but can't stop sputtering.

I find this funny because my father (55) has been afraid since the beginning of the playoffs.  He's made comments like "I don't Know if they got what it takes" and "I'm nervous about this one" etc.

I told him that once we beat Lebron it will be a much easier road and it sure has been.

I think that the old men got really upset when the Pats lost and went back to their fair weather love em when their winning attitude.

It's all good though.  Just have a little faith. ;)

My son taught me a lesson last night that I will never forget as we head to father's day.  While I went upstairs to get some work done in my office, he stuck with the game and the C's.  He kept coming upstairs to give me highlights and never lost his enthusiasm.  My 13-year-old son taught me a great lesson last night.  It was awesome to watch the 4th quarter with him and high five each other when the game ended.

TP Vinnie, I've butted heads with you in threads before (if I remember right, didn't you declare the season over in Game 6 of the Cleveland series? ;)) but I'm glad to hear about your experience last night - this team has sucked and suffered for so long it's hard to believe in them even when things do turn around, but this team has been special all year long.

Let's all keep criticizing, but keep our optimism intact for the rest of the series, and our TITLE DEFENSE next year!

PS I don't think I can provide a link, but Google "isohunt" and you can find torrents of the game.  Download a BitTorrent player (free) if you don't have one too.  Enjoy!

Thank you all.  I think last night's fourth quarter was the best viewing experience of my life.  My son and I were at the 2002 ECF miracle comeback against the Nets, but this is the finals.

I disagree that you couldn't objectively pick the Celtics.  As I said before the series started, we have one of the best defenses in league history, literally.  We won 66 games in the regular season.  We had a top ten scoring offense, and three legitimately great players.  There was absolutely no reason to objectively think that the Lakers would run away with this, especially after how we played in Detroit.

Can never turn off the TV. A fan's got to take the bad with the good. Can't be rolling along happy when they're winning and bail when things look awful.

The reason it was hard to pick the Celtics is that the Lakers have better talent. However basketball is a team game. That is never more clear than when after the game Kobe said there was no difference when Pierce guarded him because he was still seeing 3-4 bodies when he had the ball. The fact of the matter is that Pierce guarded him one on one with just "normal" help. With the small Celtic lineup it was Kobe's responsibility to get the ball to Gasol and Odom and he didn't do it. The Celtics work together extremely well. I might not think much of Doc a lot of times but his ability to get the Celtics to play together is amazing (including the stars). You take from each player what he can give to you and not make them to be something they are not. That is great teamwork. The Lakers SHOULD have won last night's game based upon talent. However the better team won and that is how it should be!!!!

Don´t worry, it happens to the best of us. A lot of "bench Ray Allen"-threads or "Doc is a moron"-threads in the last time(more than usual) are the best example for that. I already lost my composure during the Atlanta series.

TP for the great father´s day story.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
