If they call as many phantom foul calls on Garnett as they did in that Game 6 of the Detroit series it's not going to matter much since he'll be in foul trouble a lot.

Very thorough of you!

In the future, if you or anyone wants to get this type of info much quicker, you can use Basketball Reference's Head2Head Find:

He has also owned the matchup with Odom over the years.

TP.  I love that analyzer.  The first thing I did was a KG/Duncan comp, and I can see myself having fun with this...

Do this with Pierce and Kobe. Their numbers are pretty dead even. Pierce is gonna get his this year. Get that respect kiiiiiiid.

VERY interesting.  I'm really expecting Pierce and KG to explode this finals.  I don't think the national media realizes just how good they can be when they both get it going.

Do you guys have such short memories to forget what ATL and CLE did to you in the post season?

Can't Lakers fans understand this argument is particularly unimpressive? We had Lebron fans here saying the exact same thing: "have you forgotten the Hawks took you to 7 games? How do you expect to beat us? We are a playoffs built team!". After that, we had dozens of Detroit fans saying the exact same thing: "Do you guys have such short memories to forget what ATL and CLE did to you in the post season? You're done. We know playoffs, you don't. Doc will play you out". Guess what.. in the end, we prevailed, because our defense is much better than anyones else: Detroit, Cleveland, San Antonio, whoever...

It's been like this all season, we've been hearing from experts and fans: first, the big three wouldn't mesh. Then, we'd lack depth. Then, we'd miss a bench. Then, only Garnett would defend. Then Rondo and Perkins were not good enough to be starters. Then, we were winning because of the easy schedule and West teams  would beat us. Then, the Texan teams would beat us. Then the Big 3 were playing too many minutes. Then we were peaking too early. Then our best players were unexperienced and chokers in the playoffs. Then, we couldn't win on the road. Then we couldn't close out games in the 4th quarter. Geez.. this team has taken some punches, but in the end, they overcame every obstacle they faced. They're the team with the best record, the best defense and playing in the Finals. The same ESPN guy who predicted us to be 3rd in the Atlantic Division is now predicting us to be beaten in 5, using the same kind of logic. We'll see, I guess... But even if we lose the first 2 games (won't happen), I'd be confident we'll win in the end. It's really funny how this team has been proving outsiders wrong over and over...
Post of the week.  Laker fans and all of the media keep pointing at the Atl and Cle series.  They mean nothing.  Nothing at all.  All I know is that people keep doubting this team and yet, all they do is keep winning.

The arrogance of these Lakers will be there undoing.  They played an injured Spurs team.  When Manu played well they won.  The C's have owned the west this year.  The owned the Lakers as well.  the only difference in the matchups is Gasol and they had Bynum then who was comparible in a different way.  Though Pau is a differnt player KG owns weaker players.  The Cavs were every bit as long and had Ben Wallace bothered KG.  The Lakers have no one of the sort.

As Ray goes so goes the C's.  When he plays well they are unbeatable.  As for playoffs Kobe is the only one with any deep experience here and we faced the same with Lebron.  IMO, Lebron is every bit as good as Kobe.  Look at the numbers.

I would not be surprised to see the C;s go up 3-0, or 3-1, and then fight to win in 5 or 6.

Regular season records and home advantage do play large.  the arguement against should should look deep into the history of the nba and forget the Mavs.

IMO, the pundits will eat crow in the same manner they have with the Pats.  The Pistons were the C's toughest foe and they got them in 6 with the help of key Pistons wearing down.

I know Isaih Thomas as a reference is not good but I buy his theory about the east.

If Ray Allen pulls his disappearing act again the Celtics will suffer the same fate as the Spurs.  They simply won't be able to put enough points on the board to beat LA, despite keeping LA well beneath it's scoring averages.

One thing I know for sure is that Phil Jackson will keep Doc on his heels.  I truly believe we will see Doc get exposed the way Pop exposes D'Antoni.  Doc has no business being in the NBA Finals and we will all see that soon.  Letting the Hawks and Cavs take your team to 7 games????  PATHETIC

Lakers fans should be scared...  Detroit, Cleveland and of course Boston were all 2-0 against the Mighty Spurs in the regular season.

This Celtics team is a different beast.  ;)

I don't think I can talk basketball with people who actually believe Pierce is better than Kobe or somehow equal to Kobe.

I would urge you to stop looking at regular season stats.  Bruce Bowen kept Kobe Bryant in check better than anyone in the league during the regular season and he got tore up in the post season.

REGULAR SEASON STATS DONT MATTER!!!

The Celtics had no problem scoring against the Lakers.  110 and 107.  The three stars averaged 67 points a game against the Lakers.  And that was with Bynum's defense in the middle.

The better question is can the Lakers survive the disappearing act of Odom that the Celtics defense caused this year.

And I agree.  Doc is not what you would consider a NBA Finals coach.   But it hasn't stopped the Celtics yet.  Why should it change now.

This is completely irrelevant.  Up until this year, both players were on different teams w/ different supporting casts and different offensive/defensive systems.
