The national media all talk about how the Celtics haven't played the Lakers with Gasol on the team and there a totally different team now, but these people need to go look at what KG has done against Gasol head to head in the past 5 years. Gasol is a solid player, but he is way to soft to play with KG. I wrote down the stats for every game KG and Gasol have played head to head against each other and the stats weigh heavily in KG's favor, check it out

Garnett is going to destroy the Lakers in the Post. If they put Lamar Odom on Garnett and Gasol on Perk then that means radmonovic is guarding PP , so its to our advantage either way.

Very thorough of you!

In the future, if you or anyone wants to get this type of info much quicker, you can use Basketball Reference's Head2Head Find:

He has also owned the matchup with Odom over the years.

*cough*regular season*cough*

As long as KG pulls his usually crunch time disappearing act the Lakers don't need to worry about him.

Yes, his "usual" disappearing act that happened.... once?  twice? so far in 20 postseason games?

And Gasol has been perfect on both end all postseason hasn't he? Give me a break!  You might want to make sure Gasol is playing spectacular before you say that.  ::)

I hope the Lakers feel that way they will be sadly mistaken. Pretty ignorant comments. Maybe watch a game or 2. KG has been playing quite well in 4th quarters for the most part.

This comparison is irrelevant--to say the least. Neither Pau (nor Lamar) were on good teams when they were "dominated" by KG. It would be as irrelevant to say that the Lakers p*wned Garnett whenever they faced him in the West--true but who cares? He's in a new situation now.

Well, kinda helped that Lakers had Shaq at the time. But you are right it won't exactly be the same.

KG dominating Pau is one of my few, but pressing concerns.
Pau can be awesome, but he might get pwned by KG a few games too.

in this situation ya cant really go by % and stuff~

im not expecting gasol to be a problem but might jus act a fool one game~

every body on that court game should raise a notch so it wouldnt  surprise me also if the bench ballin like mcdyess and stucky and em. if that hapened we will be in trouble

they do have a deeper/better bench so doc may/better use scalabrine~

thats not true , Gasol was on a couple 50 win teams in Memphis and made the playoffs 3 straight years. Minny and Memphis were pretty evenly matched when they played each other.

p*wned?  Really?  REALLY?  The fact that you're using the word of a 14 year old World of Warcraft junkie aside, KG put up about 25-15-5 in the two playoff series against the Lakers in 2003 and 2004.  During much of each series, the clear best player on the floor was Garnett, not Shaq or Kobe.

The relevance of this thread is about matchups.  KG matches up well with both.  He has the size of Gasol and the skills of Odom (although he's lost a step).  There is a reason both those players have struggled in matchups with KG and there's a reason why Sheed was a nonfactor throughout the Piston's series.

You acting like KG doesn't have this advantage is like me saying Kobe and Ray Allen is wash.  Get real.

those are some scary stats for sure.

but - the pau vs duncan matchup had equally scary stats - and lakers came out on top.
