I think the only way Robert Horry gets into the Basketball Hall of Fame is if he buys a ticket. Just like me.

 ;D

Horry played a key role in those championships with some huge shots, but no, he's not a hall of famer.

Robert Horry as a hall of famer is laughable at best. If it took Dominique this long to get in, Horry will never get in, and absolutely does not deserve to.

Because Dominique was a such a great NBA champion.  Well unlike other stat hounds like Iverson, O'Grady, etc, at least he's not a team wrecker.

From Reyquila:
Being a winner is not something that a player can control. PP has won nothing yet and he may well not win anything. That means he cannot be a Hall of Famer?

I think a player has a lot of control over that.  Paul played defense under O'Brien and Carroll the way he's playing defense this year.  Whether he wanted to be or not, he was clearly the team's leader the three seasons prior to this one.  Those three seasons he played defense ala Shareef Abdur-Rahim.  In other words, he didn't.  The team followed suit and the losses mounted.  In the games Paul took over, the team won.  Could they have won last year with the roster they had?  They could have won a lot more than they did has Paul played the last game he played last season like he did the previous ones.

From Steve:
One other brief note -- it was mentioned earlier (my apologies for being in a rush and not checking the name) that Horry has been "terrible" in San Antonio.  Note please that they don't win the 2005 title without his ginormously huge Game 5.

Maybe for the reason that so many people here have villified Horry, but the Spurs don't win last season without Horry, either.  The (deserved) hip check and the subsequent flop by Nash kills the Suns in that series.  Again, there's nothing accidental about this guy being in the middle of critical junctures whether anybody likes him or not.

This is a real subjective argument.  I believe the Hall of Fame should be an exclusive place for the games greatest players and greatest winners.  I think there is plenty of room for Paul, Kevin, and Ray to get there.  But for reasons, some beyond their control, and some that they do control, I do not believe they are there yet.

Horry definitely is.  He has the hardware to show for it.

Paul Pierce has led as many teams to nba titles as Robert Horry has. Has he ever even made an all-star team?

I like the fact that KC Jones is in the Hall Of Fame. He deserves to be there. He played an important hand in 8 titles. He should be there.

I like the fact Bill Bradley is there. He was never a dominant franchise player or MVP candidate or an All-Pro. He made one all-star team like Horace Grant did. He was a quality starter who played an important role on the great Knicks teams of the 70s. He should be there.

I'd like to see a few more non-superstar players in the Hall. Guys who've played important roles in the league. It isn't a big list, just the select few. I believe Horry to be one of those players. 7 titles, 16 seasons, 15 of those seasons his team was a contender for the title. The man has been such a big part of championships and the NBA for so long. I think he should be there.

Isn't it pretty much an unspoken rule that if you actually have to ask if a guy should be considered a Hall of Famer, then he isn't one?
