I'm including the main factor for why the beers rank where they do, because there are so many criteria for what makes a beer right for a given occasion.

1. My Dunkel Homebrew (taste)
2. My Schwarzbier Homebrew (taste)
3. My Irish Stout Homebrew (taste)
4. Wolaver's Oatmeal Stout (taste)
5. Anchor Steam Holiday Special (taste and originality)
6. Anchor Steam Liberty Ale (taste)
7. Long Trail IPA (tasty, consistent, easy to find)
8. Long Trail Double bag (bang for the buck-smooth and tasty, twice the alcoholic content, but you can't tell!)
9. Norwich Inn's Stout (Had to give props to a great Vermont microbrew, with great lunches)
10. PBR. (Cheap draft pints, an American classic.)

34. Guinness. It's okay, but it's a pretty wimpy "stout"

321. Budweiser

I guess you can tell, I like 'em dark. And if not dark, hoppy. And if not hoppy, cheap.

Since I'm in college my list doesn't reach ten, just Natty Light, Busch Light and Keystone.  When we're feeling rich and classy we splurge on some Bud Light.

I'm pretty much the same way.  I have three qualifications when it comes to beer:

1)  Cheap
2)  Cold
3)  Lots of it

You match those three, we're golden.  If I'm buying, I usually roll with:

Busch Lite
Bud Lite
Miller High Life
Miller Lite
Natural Lite
Budweiser
Old Milwaukee Lite
Hamm's

Rolling Rock (If I'm feeling rich)

Occasionally I'll roll with some 40s, including Cobra, Cammo, and Hurricane.

Darker beers just don't go down as smooth for me.  And the hangovers are killer.

No order of preference:

Pilsner Urquell
Harpoon IPA
Shipyard IPA
Ipswich Ale
Anchor Steam
Boddington's
Ram's Head
Sierra Nevada
Dos XX
And basically any real ale from Northern England.  Boston has the best beer in America.  Northern England has the best beer in world followed right behind by Belgium but oddly I don't like the Belgian style.  I do recognize it's excellence however.

I don't really have ten, I usually drink whatever Sam Adams is where I am, love their seasonal brews.  I also love any pumpkin flavored beers.  But the ones I usually drink.

Sam Adams Octoberfest
Sam Adams Boston Lager
Bass Ale
McChouffe
Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale

May I recommend to you the Anchor Porter?
Absolutely fantastic.
You won't be disappointed.

I don't want to make a list because there
are so many beautiful brands out there.
But I usually go for the dark stuff as well  ;)

Don't know if this has already been said, but just go over to the Portsmouth Brewery and you won't be dissatisfied.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet of all the alchoholic drinks I have ever tried. Originally it was just beers categorized by country, but I made tabs for wine and hard stuff. I should probably make an "other" tab for stuff like Mike's Hard Lemonade and whatnot.

I have to say. A fun spreadsheet but a bit of work and also I used to think there was no such thing as a beer I didn't like, but there is a ton of very underwhelming beer out there

Oh, I love the Anchor Porter too. I just think the Anchor Liberty and Holiday brews stand out more over competitors than the Porter does over other porters. Plus I like stouts more than porters

Hey, I didn't know you were a homebrewer too.  You should come over to www.homebrewtalk.com sometime, it's a real cool group of guys.  We're planning a few brew sessions, if you want to meet some other brewers.

1.Innus and Gunn
2.10 Penny Ale
3.Podharznik
4.Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout
5.Yeung Leung Black and Tan
6.Smithwicks

I would have to say that my favorite beer right now is Innus and Gunn.  This beer is aged in Oak Whiskey Barrels it tastes and smells phenomenal.

Another beer I can never turn down is 10 Penny Ale, which has a very nice buttery nose with a hint of brown sugar taste.  Smooth and so very refreshing.  Made in E. Hartford CT.

I recently had a beer made from Vermont called (sp)Podharznik which means Fireman in Russian.  This is another beer that is phenomenal, very dark and very tasty.

I can always count on Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, I have yet to taste a better Oatmeal Stout.

And I love Yeung Leung Black and Tan, such a good beer that I wish were sold here in CT.

Smithwicks is always a good choice.

You've got a great list there, and you seem to know your preferences.
Since moving here to Berkeley, California, I have developed a real taste for hoppy beers.

Here is my rough list, but in no particular order:

1. Lagunitas IPA (my current favorite, for about 2 years running now)
2. Arrogant B__stard (a close second, and rapidly rising -- note that I can't write the real name on this forum)
3. Stone IPA
4. Lagunitas Maximus (Lagunitas puts out a whole bunch of interesting beers...)
5. Bison Brewing IPA
6. Bison Chocolate Stout
7. Deschutes Mirror Pond (and old favorite of mine)
8. Whatever is on cask at a bar with cask conditioned beers
9. Guinness (roots, baby, roots)
10. PBR (hate to be a copy cat, but I gotta put it on here because I love it when it is hot out and nothing else of note is on tap)

I am a big fan of the Long Trail beers and the Ipswich Ale is also good, so those would be somewhere from 11-15.
Celtics fan for life.
