My son Craig is a 7th grader in Franklin, MA. He plays Pop Warner Football for the Franklin Chargers and was selected as one of 5 finalists from across the country to compete for the first ever "Earn Your Stripes" Youth Achievement to be given out this summer in conjunction with the ESPY Awards. He and the other 4 contestants have videos posted on the contest website. If you'd like to help a local student athlete (and a fellow Celtics fan) win this prestigious award and a trip to the ESPYs, go to www.espn.com/earnyourstripes and cast your vote for Craig. He's the only finalist from New England. You may vote once per computer per day, but must wait a full 24 hours before you may vote again. Voting ends June 15th, with the top vote getter winning the Award. Thanks to anyone who can help and feel free to spread the word.

Just voted and added to favorites ... I will do my best to get one in daily. My son was in Pop Warner, and it helped him greatly in dealing with his ADHD, and brought him some friends of high character. All the best of luck to your son ... this would be a wonderful experience, and a honorable award! I'll spread the word!

Thanks to those of you who have taken the time to read my post and vote.  It really means a lot!!  We've done a pretty good job getting the word out to friends, family, neighbors and fellow Franklin residents, but we've been unsuccessful so far in getting any media attention.  Anything anyone can do to spread the word is greatly appreciated. ;D

I just voted for Craig, too.
Be sure to keep *bumping* this.
I'm sure he'll get a lot more votes.
Good luck!

I voted for Maddy

She seems to be the most deserving after watching the videos, a kid who paid her dues, playing for bad teams, genuinely loves the sport - she was also much less forced on camera...

Oh and your son didn't say anything about loving basketball - and being your first post, my guess is you went from message board to message board saying, oh vote for my son, he loves the Celtics, oh vote for my son, he loves the Pats, oh vote for my son he loves team tennins's Boston lobsters... I give you credit though, for a 7th grader he's huge, he may have a college career as he hopes, so good luck on that

That was my thought too. Sorry if I'm wrong but the OP came off as one of those overzealous dads. A Todd marinovich style dad.  I voted for the basketball kid

i have to be honest, that was the exact same thing that popped into my mind.  it made me not want to vote. best of luck to all the kids involved.
