My dream scenario is still he doesn't opt out and the Celtics use the MLE on a Diop and or Duhan.
They're both near the top of my wish list for this team too. Duhon is going to make some team very happy.

(3) Eddie House will stay if Doc and Danny promise not to treat him like they did in the first two rounds of the playoffs. If they don't he won't. Eddie wants to play. He won't come back to be 3rd string. He won't cost much. Around the 1.5mil he's on now.

This is why he is probably gone.  They simply don't trust him as the backup PG.  They have been trying so hard to replace him, but haven't been able to yet.  I think it is almost a mortal lock that they bring someone else in as the backup PG next year, so for House it is either stay as the 3rd string PG, or walk...

I am also hoping Pruitt steps up in year two and provides the Celtics with a combo guard capable of good defense and an outside stroke.

I agree with this too, but I'll throw this name again... Matt Barnes anyone? I think he can do well in our offensive system and flourish in our defensive system.

I agree that Posey is the only must keep FA. I'm also hoping that since he is just "over the hill", the C's can use extra years, even let him retire with the extra dough if he wants, and start his extension at his current salary. For example:

3.5 - 3.8 - 4.1 - 4.4 - 4.7 over 5 years.

And then the MLE and LLE could be used to lure guys like:

Swingman - Ross or Evans (let TA walk, he's not worth 2.75 mil, if you can get one of these guys for less).

Big - Mourning, Diop, Mutombo, Brown (resign), Turiaf, maybe even Kwame Brown (if he came mega cheap for a Perkins like role)

Point - Duhon, Dooling, Arroyo, Anthony Johnson, House (resign)

Posey is the only 'Must Keep'

I agree, still I think he'll find himself a good contract and I can see him attracting near MLE money. Do we give it to him? How do we fill our roster then? Play the veteran minimum route again?

I think you go with as much MLE money needed to keep him.

My dream scenario is still he doesn't opt out and the Celtics use the MLE on a Diop and or Duhan.

Well, they can still keep Posey by using the "Non-Bird Exception" which means they can resign him to up to 120% of his previous salary, and 8% raises.  So they could give him something like 4 years, $19 million (rough estimate), and not have to use any of the MLE.

I also would love to see them go after Duhon, although I would prefer Thomas over Diop.

He would be one of my top choices if they can't keep Posey, but if Posey stays, I don't think he would really have a spot here.

Matt Barns could be cool if he come aboard super cheap 1 - 1.5 million. Once again the C's priority has to be a the 1 and 5 financially (outside of Posey). Otherwise we've already got a stable of undersized 4's that can play.

I don't know. It depends a lot on James Posey opting out (and being resigned) or not. If they have no cap space it'll be very tough to upgrade Eddie. If he finishes the playoffs strong I can see them going back to Eddie.

If they have the cap space I agree they'll try hard to get a new backup point guard.

I really want him despite still having Posey, but seeing as we still need to find a PG and C, I agree it isn't a priority, but I'd like to see him in Celtics green despite still having Posey. And it's not about having an undersized PF... I think he can play a quite a few positions, especially SF and our rotation SG/SF rotation would be quite stellar through the whole season and playoffs in my opinion. I realize it's not a need nor priority, but it would be a good adition regardless in my opinion.

Seems that it would be a lot easier to persuade Diop to come aboard than to pry Thomas away from San Antonio.  I'd rather have the size, anyway; Powe's shown himself through much of the year to be a capable backup at the PF spot, but we still could use size at the 5 (assuming PJ doesn't sign up for a return engagement).

That very scenario was the biggest reason, I was upset that House was completely benched for so long. If the C's can't afford the first tier of backup point guards, than House is the best option that they have. I didn't want to see the C's burn that bridge.

Size is a definite concern. Perkins needs a legit back up center, leaving KG as a killer defender at the 4, who can provide help.

Diop would be awesome. If Kurt Thomas decides to play cheap, I imagine he'd stay in San Antonio. The same goes for Turiaf with the Lakers, Mutombo with Houston. Mourning supposedly is willing to listen to offers this summer. And I would think OJ would retire. I'd still give all those guys a call though... And then if all of that fails, I seriously think Kwame Brown could be a decent backup if he came aboard for say 2 million a year. He's a physical specimen at the 5 and a great low post defender. On offense, he and his stone hands could be reduced to a Perk role.

No to Kwame; can you imagine him playing alongside KG?  He's the antithesis of everything that KG's brought to the team.  The only two players I can think of in the legaue who would be worse fits next to KG are maybe Ricky Davis and Mark Blount - and we all know how well that ended!

I would puke if we get Kwame. Low character guy, hasn't shown to be a hard worker... and by all accounts, is one of the dumbest players in the league. No thanks.
