WOW! What a bunch of complainers! He does the thing that you guys have been whining about, and then when he does you say he was just average. He didn't get in the way of his guys... If he hadn't been stupid before we would have won earlier... Hoe miserable of an attitude guys! It must be tough to never be wrong!

Doc had an excellent game tonight. We never ONCE lost the lead. We played guys the right amount of minute and put guys in at opportune times. Sticking Ray and House there at the end to hit those clutch free throws was probably the difference. Give the guy some credit. I stated that he has made some poor decisions earlier in this series and the previous one. He did however coach this one exactly right. Not just adequate.

Nobody complained, and Hobbs gave him 'some' credit.  He said he managed the game fairly well.

There is a LOT of complaining going on here.

You know I am going in for a job review with my manager soon and I sure hope that he tells me that I am doing ADEQUATE and do my job FAIRLY WELL. That is sure glowing praise.

If you can't say anything nice about Doc even after he did a GREAT job tonight then it probably would be better just to keep it to yourself. Let's not spoil the rest of our good moods guys!

There was no complaining.  Not even a little bit.  You made an over-the-top post and some people responded with less enthusiasm.  That was it.

An over the top post?! Let's see. I said that Doc has had some head scratching decisions in the playoffs but that he deserved credit for doing a great job tonight. I mentioned three specific adjustments that he made that paid huge dividends towards the win.

Yeah... I guess that was WAY over the top. It sounds like I want to have Doc's baby or something. Pardon me for the horrendous amount of praise I heaped on the guy...

Unbelievable that people are still saying Doc only did an average job coaching today.  Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson both said he did a great job with rotations, etc.  I will take the word of a former great coach and a future coach over any Doc credit on here.

As far as him taking all series to figure out the rotations... maybe he did take a little too long.  But sometimes it takes a few games to really figure out the other team, especially in the playoffs.  And hey, at least he made the adjustments.

It is just too bad he will never be able to do anything completely right in everyone's eyes.  Way to go Doc!  Way to go Celtics!

One well coached game in the playoffs. Lets have a parade for Doc.

One well deserved trip to the ECF - vindication never smelled so good... I understand nothing short of 5 titles in 4 years will please a lot of the fans on this board, but give the man credit - he's overcome adversity, and been the rock we need to direct the troops

If you finally performed your job for one day at the level that was expected of you, and you finally implemented basic and obvious changes that the general public had been dropping in your "Complaints" box for weeks, I wouldn't expect your boss to be too enthused, no.

I'm not complaining.  Doc did fine.  He implemented the changes that he should have made two weeks ago.  He deserves credit for finally recognizing what so many of us have for weeks.  He didn't sabotage his team by going to some odd rotation, and he finally played Eddie and Pierce some at off-guard, which people have been harping on since Ray started to slump.  Doc -- the professional -- finally recognized the very obvious deficiencies that many of the amateurs on here have noted for quite some time.  Kudos to him.

(And, he did make rotation mistakes tonight, and the decision not to double team Lebron hurt the team, as the announcers -- the former player and former coach -- pointed out numerous times.   I'm not going to harp on the deficiencies, though.  We won, and overall, the mistakes didn't really impede the team.  No coach is going to coach a perfect game.  However, I'm also not going to think he was overly special tonight, when he wasn't.)

again, using this standard there are no "good coaching jobs".....

Greg Popovich has done an adequate job coaching because he didn't stand in the way of Tim Duncan winning all those titles...etc, etc...

Yeah, Doc managed the game fairly well.  He wasn't perfect, but he was adequate, and that's all most of us really ask for.

Wow! Even when you are complimenting the guy you rip him. We just won Roy!! Give the guy some credit. If he doesn't play the guys he played we don't win that one!

If he had made the right moves earlier, the series would have been over in six.  Let's not go making statues because the head coach finally made some adjustments that have been obvious needs for about 4 games.

Exactly.  When moves are obvious to the posters on a message board, I'm not going to go out of my way fawning over a professional coach for making those changes (for the most part) several games later.  Doc coached like a coach should.  It's kind of sad that we're forced to give him credit for that; that should be the norm, not an oddity that is especially praiseworthy.

Well, I would bet that if Ray Allen scored 17 and hit 3 for 7 from the arc (about his season averages) that we'd all be very happy and perhaps singing his praises.

Doing what you are supposed to do may not seem exceptional, but just as I'll give credit to KG for a consistent performance throughout the series (no better than his average, BTW), I'll also give credit to Doc for making the moves necessary for the victory today.  Nice job Doc!!

Jeff Van Gundy is a great coach :o  Look at his playoff record with a lot of very good teams. That is not a great coach. I'll give u great commentator.

How many time have you seen coaches critical of other coaches?

There's nothing to pardon.  You were a bit over the top in your praise of Rivers, but it's not a big deal.  On the other hand, there was nothing for you to be calling people complainers about either.

Hats off to Doc, he got it done today.  I loved the 4th quarter rotations especially.

Absolutely, great game by Doc - the right players got their minutes and performed well.  I've been a big Sam booster, but Eddie was the right decision and lived up to it, and PJ had his best game for us all year.

If Doc coaches many games like he did today, I bet there'd be less "hate" directed towards him.  I don't know if I'd say he did a great job today.  I'd just say he was solid.  Some of the bigger player decisions were so obvious he had to make it--benching Ray, playing PJ more, playing Paul the entire 2nd half.  He went offense/defense at the end but that should be expected.

Could you give me a specific quote showing where I was "over the top" in my praise of Doc? I can give you a lot of examples of people complaining about Doc on here.

Sure, I'd be happy to:

You're not really going to claim that such a statement isn't over the top, are you?  As for people complaining, nobody was doing it on this thread.

ALL DAY LONG I will say that isn't over the top. We never lost the lead one time. He dramatically changed lineups that were huge in this win. He coached it just right.

I did not say something like " That was the best game that I have ever seen coached in a game 7 in Celtic history." or " Doc really should be given a long extension because he proved tonight that he is one of the best coaches in the NBA" or Doc coached a PERFECT game".

Those statements would have been over the top. I said he has made some mistakes in this and the other series but he coached very well tonight. You're stretching that a bit due to your obvious hatred of Doc.
