If Doc Rivers had not coach Tracy McGrady for a few years in Orlando I swear they would be the same person. There's many factor as to way the Celtics have lost two games in a row to what we all can say is an inferior team. But they saying goes the best team always wins in a 7 game series. In this case the best coach always win in a 7 game series.
By what I have seen over the past two games Doc Rivers is getting out coach by Mike Woodson. It's plan and simple. Mike Woodson in game management has been much better then Doc. Mike Woodson game plan has been better then Doc. I have 3 examples to prove my point.
1. Mike Bibby/Joe Johnson Pick-and-Roll - Great move by Woodson, this take pressure off of Bibby and it put Bibby and Johnson in position to make plays. Also it causes match-up problems.
How should Doc have adjusted? Put a bigger guard on Bibby...ie..Tony Allen also move Paul Pierce on Joe Johnson. This will take away that pick-in-roll.
2. The Hawks are doubling off of Rondo (who is being guarded by a bigger man, Namely Josh Childress) and Rondo isn't making them pay.
How should Doc adjust? Put Eddie House into the game to spread the court. Cassell can't buy a bucket, House has been here since day one spreading the court and knocking down shots. Eddie House should be playing more minutes Doc.
3. Mike Woodson use of his bench - Woodson is putting his players in position to be successful. This includes his bench players.
Now I'm not one who thinks the Bench should be shorten. I think one of the big advantages the Cs have is our bench. However Doc isn't using them well. A line-up I would like to see if KG,Powe,Posey,Paul, and House.
Or KG,Posey,Paul,Ray,and Tony.
It's funny but all season we have been looking for a back-up PG for Rondo. But in this series I think at times Tony Allen should see minutes at the 1.
