Well if it still matters, I veto the trade.
Blake, your trades are the definition of the word ridiculous. They don't make any sense at all. Allow me to elaborate.
A) there were 16 rounds to the draft, maybe 4 bench guys, that means that 12 guys matter equally each and every night. The 7, 8th, 9th, 10th picks are where winners are made. People who do well in these leagues have as much a 'plan' for these picks as they do for their first and second.
B) So now you would've sacrificed 6 picks in the draft for 2 first round draft picks next year. Well, that might have almost made sense if it weren't for the fact that in this particular league we can keep our entire roster, which means you're betting that 3 guys out of next year's draft will solid fantasy conributers, well yes thats possible, in like 3 or 4 years. You're also betting that the three guys you pick will be good next year, and if you know anything about basketball even the best draftniks are completely hit or miss, and they get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to be only partially right. How could you possibly do any better? Its better to go with a proven commodity in this year's draft, take a hunch on a sleeper or something, but keep the pick, you'll do better and your team will do better.
C) You would've now given y'all hate and edgar advantages over the other GMs....now Whether or not they are smart enough to fully utilize this advantage is debateable, but remember you're getting their draft picks, which means unless they're totally mentally incapcable, these picks won't be very low in the order, Edgar and y'all hate are smart guys, they'll pick winners. Trust me, I've spent like 45 minutes today trying to blackmail edgar into trading up in the round and he smartly played around it (I wouldn't have picked Delonte, Ed). So now not only are you a loser this year because you gave up so many of your late round picks, you'll be a loser next year because the picks you got back will be so low percentage that in all likely hood it will be OJ Mayo and a bunch of hit or miss rookies with little to no roto-value for the foreseeable future.
D) Are you telling me also they once your team doesn't have a single win to speak of that you'll still be checking the rosters online adjusting stuff? Maybe you do, maybe you sit through these losses, but I really think its more likely that you're gonna let this simmer and maybe come back to your juicy first rounders next season. If seasons were 1 week long this would be a good strategy, for the rest of us, who play the full season, its quite annoying.
Ever seen BeerFest? This is how I feel right now.
