I am convinced that, so long as Mazulla is in charge, we will always be able to math our way to really good regular season win totals. It's the adjustments and counter-adjustments of playoff basketball I don't think we are equipped to endure.

And remember there was a debate here a few years ago about how he wasn't clutch? I forget who was on which side of the debate but the argument was that he was a choker.

Paul George
So far I'm thrilled at the Paul George experience. He's guarded positions 1-5, not just on switches, but as an assignment. He's been the best defender I've seen in green since Garnett (Smart's DPOY was a big exaggerated in my opinion).

Just in comparison to watching Brown, the offense moves much smoother. The ball is popping. It doesn't get stuck in one place. And George is making much more advanced reads in the offense to get teammates open. Brown had gotten much better at distributing these last few years, but still mostly made basic reads.

4 games in. The question mark has always been how many games can he perform like this, not just regular season, but post-season. But the on-court fit, defensive ability, unselfishness, etc. is not a question mark.

Mitch Robinson
It's clear that Robinson had a great feel for his Knicks teammates last year. He knew where to be, where the ball would come off for offensive rebounds, etc. So far this year I haven't seen that same confidence/rhythm/feel with teammates. I think it will develop.

Jayson Tatum
Tatum at 8 assists per game is crazy. It looks to me like he's taking that last leap as a superstar.

Queta
One of the surprises of the season so far is Queta's developing perimeter game. I did not expect to get to enjoy watching him develop that, and I see what the coaching staff is trying to encourage. They do not view him as just a rim-running big, and I'm a bit curious what his ceiling is as a scorer in the league.

White, Pritchard, Baylor, Hauser, Garza, Walsh
As advertised. Love watching what these guys bring to the table. It's such a joy that when subs come in the game, there is real anticipation that we may be able to go on a little run.

Hugo
My biggest disappointment of the year so far. I still own all my stock and won't be selling for a while. I really thought he may earn the 5th starter minutes, but instead he's lost his minutes to Walsh and Baylor.

The team looks great to me so far.  They had to work more than expected vs. Nets last night, but some guys got hot.  It happens.

Overall, my concern is ORebs/2nd Chance points.  BOS is losing that so far 13.8 to 17.3, meaning BOS is -3.6 giving up 3.6 more 2nd chance points than they are getting.  Last season, BOS was +2.8 for 2nd chance points.  They are making up for with points off turnovers (+7.0) so this has not hurt them so much so far, but it will cost them some games along the way if they don't clean this up.

Great post.  I agree it all except the Hugo part. I think the competition for minutes with Baylor and Jordan is still an open book. Though we?re seeing Jordan start and Baylor getting more early minutes, I still think it?s anyone?s guess where this will be mid-year and in April.

I think Ray Allen might be the most interesting guy on this list... check out his 3PT percentage which is higher than the highest overall percentage, but yet his 2PT is horrible

I?m not seeing any improvement from Baylor or Hugo. Seems like Brad is overvaluing these guys.

Did not want to give up Baylor and/or Hugo for Giannis huh...this will hurt as the season progresses  :-X

I doubt Baylor was much of a factor there. Hugo is the guy I believe he did not want to give up.

I doubt they have high hopes for Baylor. He is a solid bench player. Maybe someday they believe he can be a borderline starter.

Hugo on the other hand they may believe he has star potential. He has a good blend of physical talent and the types of hustle play that you cannot teach. If you can add a jump-shot to that, he would be one heck of a player.

I don?t see it. His minutes are actually down this year so far. I?m thinking more of an Alex Caruso type. A solid role player.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I agree with Who, and lets not forget he is only 20 years old.

I was really hoping to see a more consistent PP this year.  The guy has games of absolute brilliance then disappears on others.  He needs to be able to provide scoring off the bench every night.  Doesn?t have to be 25 points but it can?t be 4.

Agree. The 4 point night v the Nets following his explosion the night before is too much of a gap. He?s not going to score 30 every night but if he?s the weapon we need him to be, 4 point nights really can?t happen.

I don't think playing Tatum for all 12 minutes of the 1st and 3rd quarters helps PP.

Not entirely to blame for his 4 point game. But there are only so many shot opportunities with the second unit, and if Tatum is out there it takes some away from PP.
