NBA Central: NBA sources believe Jaylen Brown thinks he?s the smartest person in the room, per @colincowherd:
?I had two NBA sources ? two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has ? it?s a disease. He suddenly thinks he?s the smartest guy in every room he?s in ? You make a lot of money, suddenly you?re absolutely sure, you don?t wanna listen to your bosses, you don?t wanna listen to consultants, you don?t wanna listen to teammates.?
I may have something to say on the specifics of the trade later, but for now I'll say this about Brown: For a long time he has struck me as someone who thinks he's super smart but comes across as a pseudointellectual.
Quite a few fans and observers have had the view that he's smart because he plays chess, or because he went to Cal, but neither of those things is a surefire indication of high intelligence. Throw in his friendship with Kyrie, and Brown's seeming anti-Semitism (or maybe he's ?anti-Semitic adjacent?), and I don't see anything approaching ?highly intelligent thought leader.?
I also don't think he's particularly smart on the basketball court, as evidenced by his high turnover numbers and his obvious overconfidence in his dribbling ability.
For those reasons, I'm happy with him no longer being on the Celtics.
