If you can back an MVP guy like Giannis for Jaylen that's one thing. You have to do that, as much as I love Jaylen. But to trade Jaylen for Trey Murphy, or Devin Vassel, or some of the other junk I see out thrown around out there is insane to me.

Maybe behind the scenes he's throwing a tantum and has asked out. But we haven't seen any indication of that as of yet. Before you blow up the duo I'd like to see you go out and try to build it up one last time. If Tatum/Brown aren't good enough alone find them another Holiday or Porzingis. You've done it once before. I'd at least ask that you put a luxury tax level team around them one more time before we complain that the duo is cooked.

Like ya, the Knicks may be better than the C's right now (although i don't believe the gap is that big). The knicks are also going to spend almost 25 million more than the C's on players this year assuming they go right up to the 2nd apron as expected and the C's stay below the tax as expected.

Saying "the duo doesn't work" when the primary evidence for that is a year in which Tatum played 20 games and the C's decided to get below the tax is just not persuasive to me as an argument when i've seen it work at the highest levels.

All of these trade proposals make us worse IMO.  Wonder what else we should have included to get GA. More draft picks?  I'd give up any of the bench guys but Hugo, and have offered more picks.

I would ask for Mobley and Jaylon Tyson at a minimum, I think you would have to add Sam Merrill for cost matching as well for Brown.

I think if we offer to take Struss into our TPE also, that's worth a significant value.

So we could take someone back with our TPE and then Cleveland will be below the 2nd Apron and can aggregate salaries and make an Evan Mobley for Jaylen Brown. That seems like an easy fix.

Sam Merrill at $9mil looks the best target with the TPE rather than Strus or Schroder ... if we did need to do this to make the Mobley trade.

Here is the difference when the both Js are on the court compared to the team?s total net rating.  I excluded this past season because they only played 13 games together and that creates some weird sample issues.

2025: -1.3
2024: -3.7
2023: -0.4

They still have a positive net rating together, but the team has consistently performed better when they are not playing together, for years.  So, the duo works, but maybe there are better combinations for the Celtics than the two of them.

I think JB went to Brad after the season and asked to be traded.

Brad has run cover for JB so JB does not look like the bad guy to the city of Boston community and the fanbase.

Everyone saying Brad is the one that is trying to move JB but I think it was clearly conveyed in that May meeting by JB he wanted a new path where he was the guy.

Brad swung for the fences with Giannis and now he is stuck trying to find a deal that works for Boston.

JB for E Mobley would be the end of the window.

We truly would be a 2nd round and out team from then on.

Don't do it Brad Stevens.
Boston already is that with no hope.  Mobley would provide some hope.  He is a young defensive big man.  He'd open more options by not being duplicative.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Disagree. I see it the opposite way.

Hope with Jaylen.

We were first round exit with Brown
and 2nd round the year before with a deeper team and a pre-injury Tatum.  Boston's run is over.  Brad should have realized this last summer and tanked this year.  I thought it was the right call then and this year only confirmed it for me.  They should have taken a gap year this year with this draft.  It is the right time to tank for a year.

Mobley has not improved much in recent years and I worry he is one of those guys that just lives off potential but he never gets there. Kind of like Bam. Still an all-star talent but basically stays around there and stagnates.

He shows glimpses such as in the 2024 Boston playoff series but he is just too inconsistent as well

I don?t know how else we could have tanked to miss the playoffs and get a better draft pick, but I wish that was the case.

Our team on paper was not good starting this season. Somehow we were the 2nd seed.

by trading Brown and White for draft picks and young players.  Play the young players, tank with your own pick and see what other picks you end up with.
