I will wait to see what else Miami does before predicting how they will be. I do think they can be a playoff team (5-6 seed) at best but that is assuming Giannis and Bam stay healthy. Their bench right now is very thin and the spacing is bad, plus they now have needs at the guard spots. They do not have a first round pick to use tomorrow night either

The Celtics aggressively pursued Giannis, offering Milwaukee a package featuring 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Bucks seriously negotiated with two finalists in recent weeks: Miami and Boston, which were both on Antetokounmpo?s list of preferred destinations.

Is JB into Cajun?? Or what?s the odds we could snag Jalen Johnson to send JB back home - <1%?

Yeah, no Jalen Johnson.  I think Okungwu, McCollum, #8 and some matching salary would be doable.  And turning around #8, that matching salary, and maybe #27 or a 2027 1st into Trey Murphy would be a fine pivot.

There are alternatives to Giannis.

That would be a terrible return for JB. Might as well trade Tatum at that point. The move would make Atlanta better than Boston.  :P

Wow. The Heat gave up a LOT.

I wasn?t all aboard the Giannis train, but I?m guessing that plan B (whatever that might be) can?t be nearly as impactful as Giannis could?ve been. It certainly would?ve been nice to finally have a player who consistently gets a favorable whistle.

It?s probably gonna be ?run it back? (with a couple of so-so tweaks), another crapload of 3pt shots, and another first-(maybe second-)round exit.

But it?ll be another successful 50-win regular season. ::)

I do not think this roster nor any realistic targets Brad can get makes this a team that can compete for the East crown.

They are so bloated with young players that have to contribute but don't seem ready to and have only 3 legit starters in a system that shoots them out of games.

They will make the playoffs but will not be a factor with this roster. I really do not see where they go.

I guess they are really trying to stay within the cap and just punt on this season waiting for 2027.

East

* Title contenders = BOS, DET, IND, NYK
* Playoff teams = CHA, CLE, MIA, TOR, ATL
* Play-in teams = ORL, WAS, PHI
* Lotto teams = BKN, CHI, MIL

Hmm ... East is deep.

12 good teams 3 bad teams.

This team is going to shoot 60 3's again, start Garza in a Game 7, and lose to an underdog team again in the first/second round.

They need a Porzingis and Jrue type move to move the needle. Who are those players? And hopefully not Timelord being our savior.

Boston is not a title contender. They are a playoff team at best. This roster is not built for the playoffs. combine that with Joe's lack of an offense, no front court and 2 guys that play your turn, my turn basketball...it will be more of the same.

So your Brad Stevens and you?re making the phone call to Jaylen Brown right now. What do you even say?

He should ask Danny what he said to Ray Allen, lol.

Bucks owner Jimmy Haslem was a driving force in taking the Heat deal for Giannis over Boston?s offer, per @KevinOConnor

Haslem didn?t want to risk Jaylen Brown wanting out of Milwaukee in a year.

Lol the Browns owner is impacting decision making for the Bucks. That?s wild

Can't wait for those hot free agent signings and another Jordan Walsh type pick tomorrow night in the draft. Some young player that can't shoot but has a motor. That will really move the needle.

Brad talked a good game about how the roster needed to be improved this offseason but honestly there are no real avenues to do it.

He isn't trading Brown. Doesn't have a lot of money to attract FA's. Same roster. Same play style. Same results.

[dang] you Riley. They basically gave away 4 1st round draft picks and multiple first round players they picked.

Biggest winners are NOP and Portland who can swap or use Bucks first pick over the next few years. Bucks are going to be awful.

I hope Brown stays cause there zero players beyond Giannis that makes sense now. How do we get a big now?

Hey, how do we get those Bucks picks Portland owns? Or the NOP one?

Keith Smith: The Heat will bring Bobby Portis in via the Duncan Robinson TPE they have. Miami will be hard-capped at the first apron after completing this deal, which will be in July after the league year changes over.

I am not clear on the hard capped stuff in the new CBA. So MIA cannot add any extra salary beyond the first apron?

I wonder how much wiggle room they have below the first apron. They still need to improve that bench.

Brad accomplished his true goal in all of this....simply to drive up the price for the Heat. Cripple them pretty much after these next few years.

I am not even sure Brad really wanted this deal.

That is reasonable. Good reason to prefer the MIA offer.
