I mean Miami fleeced Mil here. It?s unbelievable they got Portis too in this deal.

I don't know. Giannis' injury issues could doom MIA. This deal might be their death knell.

I think the Heat are now in the East conversation. I understand they?re not in the big boy chair or anywhere close to it, but they do have a seat at the table. As you already outlined, they didn?t give up that much depth all things considered and they have quite a front court rotation.

Yeah, I like their team too. I just don't know how many good years Giannis has left in him. That is what makes me nervous for MIA. If it goes bad, MIA has no picks / flexibility for years to come.

A high risk / high reward gamble.

The Celtics aggressively pursued Giannis, offering Milwaukee a package featuring 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Bucks seriously negotiated with two finalists in recent weeks: Miami and Boston, which were both on Antetokounmpo?s list of preferred destinations.

Is JB into Cajun?? Or what?s the odds we could snag Jalen Johnson to send JB back home - <1%?

Yeah, no Jalen Johnson.  I think Okungwu, McCollum, #8 and some matching salary would be doable.  And turning around #8, that matching salary, and maybe #27 or a 2027 1st into Trey Murphy would be a fine pivot.

There are alternatives to Giannis.

Miamai got

Hero- One year removed from being an all-star.
Jaquez (1st in 2023)
Ware (1st in 2024)
Jakucionis (1st in 2025)

Two future firsts and a future swap.

I don't think that's some horrible offer honestly. Its three future firsts including a decent one this year, three young guys on rookie scale deals, AND the Bucks get off the Portis money. They might still be able to flip Hero either now or at the deadline for something as well.

Its a quantity over quality offer.

WHAT???!!

I thought BOS had it in the bag. I am shocked they chose that MIA package over Jaylen Brown. Terrible decision by MIL.

And thank god for it! I did not want to trade Jaylen for Giannis. I don't think Giannis is worth Jaylen. Too old, too many injury issues, too awkward to play with.

We still have our Celtics! Tatum & Jaylen forever!

Screw Giannis!

Jaylen is pretty much done with the Celtics after what they tried to do with him.

Brad needs to quickly flip him for Trey Murphy III

I can confirm that Heat has been informed by the Bucks that they're getting Giannis. Cautious optimism pays off lol.

Miami is exactly where Giannis preferred to be, someone who works for him reiterated again today.

This has been said several times. MIA was were he wanted to be most. BOS was a 2nd choice team he was willing to go to. MIA was always his 1st choice.

I am not even sure Brad really wanted to make this deal with that sorry offer. His main objective was to drive up the price for Miami. Brown and 2 low numbers 1s?

Brown is a top-15 player that is younger and healthier than Giannis.  He's a legit star.  He was by far the best player offered.

As I said, I would have overpaid.  I would have put Hugo in the deal.  But, it wasn't a sorry offer.

Herro is not a player that you build around. He barely averaged 20ppg this season and is atrocious defensively. Those Miami picks aren?t going to be great. Even without Giannis they are always around .500

Bucks are going to be so bad. Portland must be over the moon right now.

Problem would be creating another high-level team in the East against our own interests. A Brown, JJ, NAW trio would be formidable. Would much rather send him out West to NOLA directly if possible. Though honestly I don't know enough about Murphy to know if that's a reasonable trade off for JB.

Brown and 2 very low number 1s isn't enough.

If Hugo was the reason we couldn't get Giannis, then somebody should lose their GM job lol

That is an interesting pair of moves.

G: McCollum, Pritchard
G: D White, Baylor
F: Trey Murphy, Hauser, J Walsh
F: Tatum, Hugo
C: Queta, Okongwu

Two 6th man of the year candidates in Pritchard & Okongwu. Tatum as the main scorer. McCollum would be the 2nd best one-on-one player / shot creator. Trey Murphy a high teens low 20s scorer. D White & Pritchard & Okongwu all 15ppg threats. McCollum a 15-20ppg guy. Tatum a 25-30ppg.

That is what ... 25-30ppg + 15ppg by 3 players + 15-20ppg + 18-20ppg = about 95ppg to 110ppg.

We would go from having just 4 scoring threats in the playoffs last year (JT, JB, Pritch, D White) to having 6 scoring threats. Plus whatever Queta and the young wings provide as hustle players.

I will wait to see what else Miami does before predicting how they will be. I do think they can be a playoff team (5-6 seed) at best but that is assuming Giannis and Bam stay healthy. Their bench right now is very thin and the spacing is bad, plus they now have needs at the guard spots. They do not have a first round pick to use tomorrow night either
