What a terrible 3rd goal to concede ...

The 1st one was very poor too. Hard to win when you are making individual mistakes like this.

US will never be competitive bc they lack the instinct and IQ. Bunch of low IQ and low quality players

What is with our goalies playing so hesitant? Look at the other goalies in this tournament, aggressive to the ball, punching or catching it, willing to take contact. Meanwhile Freese and Turner in some of these games are just standing there while the ball is crossed or passed near post and just praying an attacker isn't there. Turkiye and now Belgium have taken advantage multiple times and it's been easy goals. Yes Ream and the defense have also sucked, but on that second goal the ball whizzed past Freese (not even high-speed) and he just let it go and the Belgium player tapped it in. JUST TAKE A STEP OUT AND CATCH IT DUDE.

And go figure, commits the worst defensive error in this tournament (even worse than Uruguay goalie) to give up the 3rd Belgium goal, and then I'm sorry but as amazing as Lukaku is as a scorer, that shot was not threatening and Freese still let it in easily. Jesus christ. Defense and goalkeeping needs to be addressed, the midfield and attack is promising though.

Ugly loss.

Ultimately, I think the US maxes out at around No. 15 or 16 in the world because there are so many popular sports here, which really limits the player pool for soccer, and that, in turn, limits the level of competition. With a generous amount of luck, the US could mayyyyyybe, one day, reach the WC quarterfinals, but I think that anything beyond that is a total pipe dream.

Ironically we used to have decent keepers, like Tim Howard...if we have someone of his quality it would feel much more stable at the back. But we just didn't play well...I think the moment got to them, they didn't play with the same verve and freedom that they did in the earlier rounds. Obviously the opponents were a step up from Paraguay, Australia, Turkiye and Bosnia. The Paraguay game was a bit of a red herring because they went out and attacked that game because they probably underestimated us and got punished so they reverted to the low block style they used in qualifying, if they played that way against us I still think we would have won but I doubt we would have scored 4 goals.

They just need more exposure to these moments.
