And off we go

That's crazy, 3 red cards in a single game. They put up a stat too saying it's the first time in WC history there has been 3 red cards issued in the World Cup opener. This ref was a hardo lol

Didn?t see how the player from Mexico got a red card, two minutes into stoppage time, up 2-0 and 2 players is not the time to do anything remotely aggressive.

I was surprised it was a red card and even the commentators were. An obvious yellow, but red seemed excessive. My sister and I were watching the game, basically he tackled a South African player who had a lane close to the goal but it wasn't too excessive. This ref gave him a red though pretty quickly

I'm hoping for a respectable US performance in this WC. Also looking forward to what Norway's Erling Haaland will do.

Funnily enough I was watching the USWNT play Brazil the other day, they gave out 8 red cards, mostly to Brazil, ncluding 4 after the final whistle, to the Brazil coach and another member of the coaching staff. It looked more like rugby than soccer  :police:

I'm cheering for the US and for Spain since my dad is part Spanish. I'm happy for the US to get to the next round, but I'm hoping Spain can make it to the final four at least.
