Dallas isn't a good fit for Risacher. They are already loaded at forward with 4 high quality / starting caliber forwards.

F: Cooper Flagg, Naji Marshall
F: PJ Washington, Santi Aldama

All 4 guys are better than Risacher right now.

I imagine Risacher will have to compete for minutes at SG alongside Max Christie and Klay Thompson. I wonder if Risacher gets pushed into the starting position there (ahead of Max Christie who is their best two way SG) because Risacher is a former #1 pick. Getting rid of Klay Thompson would be good for Dallas.

Neither Risacher or Max Christie provide any real ball-handling or playmaking at SG. More pressure on the PG (Kyrie). More pressure on Cooper Flagg as a playmaking forward.

Atlanta have a nice set of 3rd stringers

G: Devin Carter, Ryan Nembhard
G: Corey Kispert
F: Buddy Hield
F: Vesaar
F: Asa Newell

16 players. Gotta get rid of one of them.

3 team trade just happen

Atlanta get Lu Dort & Ryan Nembhard

Dallas get Zach Risacher

OKC get 3 second rounders

So all ATL got for their #1 overall pick was Lu Dort?

That has gotta be depressing.

Like when they passed on CP3 for Marvin Williams.
one of several drafts where they'd have been better to trade that #1 for an all-star player

Also speaks to how fortunate some teams are to get that number 1 when there is a true franchise player available. San Antonio hit the jackpot (a few times) and so did Dallas last year. Top two or three this year are looking good.  But sometimes you get the prize and it?s not the prize you hoped for.

The perils of tanking.  You might get Cooper Flagg or Wembanyama, or you might get Markelle Fultz or Ben Simmons.  It was not a great draft that year for sure.  They certainly could have done better than Risacher, but there were not any great options to get a true difference maker with the top pick.

Sarr was right there. He was a much better gamble.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
