Send Brown over for Murray and Johnson. Denver gets the strongest duo threat in the NBA in Jokic/Brown

I prefer J Murray & Jokic vs Jaylen & Jokic.

Jamal Murray and Jokic have a better two man game. Murray a ball-handler and perimeter shooter. He works great in the PnR with Jokic. They have great chemistry.

I do not think Jaylen and Jokic would have similar chemistry. Jaylen isn't as good of a ball-handler or a perimeter scorer. Jaylen is a much better iso guy. He works better on his own than Murray rather than in tandem with someone as Murray does.

It would at least be somewhat interesting if the trade was Murray/Watson instead of Murray/Johnson. I really like Watson's game and he'd be a nice consolation prize to missing out on Trey Murphy. Johnson is just an expiring 30 year old and the Nuggets have zero tradable firsts

Duren in a S&T for Brown is actually hard to pull off financially. Because of base year compensation rules Dduren would count as only half his outgoing salary for salary matching purposes. So lets assume he got a contract starting at 40 million, he's count only 20 million outgoing. But since Brown makes 57 million the Pistons would have to send out at least 46 million to meet salary matching requirements, meaning they need to a at least 26 million more to a Duren offer. BUT aing 26 million more to Duren means the Celtics are actually taking on 66 million (40 for Duren + 26), meaning the C's would be adding 9 million in salary when they only have about 14 below the tax.

Basically there is only a very narrow range of salaries that would both A) Allow Detroit to salary match an B) Keep Boston below the tax.

Its not impossible, but it would be tricky.

Isn't DET under the cap? They can absorb some of that Jaylen salary without needing to send back money to Boston?

I am not sure how much of the difference they can absorb but I expect it would be a large chunk of it.

You aren't wrong about the cap space thing tho. It might actually just be easier for them to move off some salary like say Duncan Robinson and open up enough cap space to jut flat out absorb Brown rather than try to salary match with Boston.

Somebody better versed in the CBA than me would have to do the math on that.

I think (but I am not positive because I am doing the math in my head while on the train coming home from work) that if they waived and stretched Duncan Robinson and included Ron Holland in the deal they would just have room.  But I could be off by a minimum-salary cap hold.  Generally, however, if they are not attached to Robinson they can waive or stretch him (since he has only $2 million of his nearly $16 million guaranteed) and it winds up being easier for Detroit to match with cap space than aggregating with the base-year compensation rules.   (This assumes they do things like processing the Isaiah Stewart and Isaiah Joe deals first, and use the room mid-level to sign Huerter rather than his Bird Rights).

A better combo of shooting & defense than our young wings offer.

That Joshua Jefferson guy has some impressive stats in college for Iowa. An older rookie. 4yr college guy. He had a couple of triple doubles. Looks a well rounded player.

47% FG 34.5% 3PT on low volume. His 3PT shooting was worse in previous years (29% first 3 years). Only a 70% FT shooter. He did get to the foul line a lot though. 6 FTA on 12 FGA.

His advanced stats are huge. 7.0 OBPM 6.1 DBPM 13.1 base plus minus.

His stats read like a surprisingly well rounded basketball player for an end of 1st round pick. Defense = check. Rebounding = check. Passing & handles = check. Offense = middling.

Has anyone seen him play? Is he good? Could he crack the Nets rotation as a rookie?

Correct.  If you believe that the Warriors are going to take a swing at AD, for example, having the ability to trade KP immediately is worthwhile to them.
