Do folks expect the Celtics to make a move early in the free agency period, or is the potential Brown trade a bottle heck that prevents other moves?

The Sacramento Kings are trading guard Devin Carter and a future second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell ESPN.

Wow, talk about selling off a recent late lotto pick on the cheap. I wish Brad had of acquired him. I love his defense. He is a jump-shot away from being one of the great glue guy guards in the league. Well worth taking a shot on.

And Atlanta? ... they just drafted Kingston Flemings and have CJ McCollum. And NAW. D Carter won't even play there. He might have played here. Dang it!

Also a Devin Carter fan, but at the same time he is entering year 3 and has not shown nearly enough for his $7.4 million option for 2027 that the Hawks will have to decide upon by the start of the season.  Someone I was interested in if we had the salary space, but much more important to keep until JB is sorted out or we have signed a big in free agency.

They need to get this sorted before free agency opens. They will miss out on a huge number of opportunities if they do not. Most big name FA options are gone within the first week. Often the first few days.

So I am expecting a conclusion within the next 24-48 hours. Either Jaylen goes or Jaylen stays. And we move forward with a plan for next season / for FA either way.

That has been my question also. Do they approach FA like JB is going to be here? Do they wait on FA risking getting anyone?

Bennett Durando: The Nuggets are declining Jalen Pickett?s team option, league sources tell @DenverPost. Drafted 32nd overall in 2023, Pickett played in 126 games for Denver including 50 last season.

Wow, that is a surprise. They were really high on Jalen Pickett before their coaching change last year. Adam Mares (podcast with Tim Legler) is a Nuggets fan who loves Jalen Pickett. He compares him to players like Boris Diaw who have that all-round high IQ game. One of his pinky players. His pinky player picks tend do well.

Pickett could be worth picking up as a bench SG to compete with Baylor Scheierman.

Kuminga is an MLE player at most.

I don't like him for the Celtics. He has a "me, me, me" game with no understanding of how to play team basketball. He should have played an individual sport like Tennis instead of a team sport like basketball.

Acquiring Ja Morant feels like a set-up trade to me given all the Jaylen Brown rumors in Portland. Now the Blazers could feel more comfortable sending Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson, and Shaedon Sharpe with draft picks to Boston for Jaylen Brown. We'll see what happens.

Too many guards. We have 2 quality guards already in Derrick White and Payton Pritchard. We need a 3rd (Jrue). We don't have minutes for a 4th (Scoot) nevermind a 5th (Shaedon).

Need to find new homes for at least 2 of those 5 guards.

Just in: Free agent guard Landry Shamet intends to sign a new four-year, $24 million deal to return to the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN.

Shamet's agent, George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group, worked with Knicks executives on Monday to land the long-term commitment.

Bad deal. He is a minimum contract player. Replaceable.

Los Angeles Clippers are picking up the $9.2M team option on Brook Lopez for the 2026-27 season, league sources tell me.

The Clippers are exercising Brook Lopez's $9.2 million team option, with the intent on keeping him, source says. Los Angeles will not pick up the options for Nicolas Batum or Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Ah, they did not find a trade for Bogs. Good to move on from those two old guys. Their young guys Kobe Sanders and Jordan Miller outplayed them last season. No need for them old dudes no more.

Michael Scotto: Update: The Los Angeles Clippers hope to come to multi-year agreements with Jordan Miller and Kobe Sanders after offering both players qualifying offers, league sources said.

Love Jrue but that's still bad. Need at least one of Clingan/Camara in a hypothetical
