Presumably that would be his role.  He could probably be had for the $5.5 million bi-annual exception, leaving us to use the larger MLE for someone else.

Would have to think PP is starting next season no matter what happens with Brown. Really the only kind of guards Brad is looking for in FA are going to be suited to be back ups.

I think it will be PP or Hugo assuming Brown remains.  All bets are off if he is traded, or I guess if we move Sam and get back a starter level player.

Weird, the 7th best player on a team is garnering interest from half the league?

Interesting.

I would really like this move. He would be a quality player in our rotation that can create his own shot.

If you can get him for the bi-annual exception, and keep the MLE, then that's huge. You can then use the MLE to sign a big man like Timelord, Nurkic, Mamu, Porzingis, etc.

He is coming off a disappointing year. He had a great opportunity in Dallas last year and he couldn't take it.

Kyrie Irving was hurt. Cooper Flagg started out at PG but couldn't do the job. For a period of time, Ryan Nembhard was out-competing B Williams for that starting gig. Ryan Nembhard is a limited rookie 3rd string PG.

----------------

Small guard. 6-1 180s. Struggles on defense. On offense, is a very good shot-creator but doesn't run the offense. Doesn't create much for others. Looks after himself. That is why he was unable to step up and claim that starting gig. Bad defense & individual offense vs team offense.

---------------

Ryan Nembhard took the playing time because he was a heady player who looked after others. Who involved others. Tried to play team basketball. It wasn't that he was so talented. Or more talented than Brandon Williams. It was just that he played team basketball and J-Kidd wanted a PG who played team first.

---------------

I think B Williams is more of a passable / serviceable backup PG than a good reserve (average to above average bench player).

Great option as a 3rd string PG.

Nikola Jovic on being in trade rumours

Quote
"Ever since I arrived in Miami, I have been in trade rumors for Kevin Durant twice. Yes, twice for KD. For Kyrie Irving twice. For Damian Lillard, it was already a done deal because Lillard publicly stated that he wanted to come to Miami. It was like, 'I want Miami,' and that was it. For Lillard! And now most recently, I was in there for Giannis. I have been in seven or eight trade rumors already.

Me and my brother Tyler Herro. I mean, my brother Tyler Herro, what he has endured, it is nowhere else! In the end, he didn't survive, but I mean, he survived a long time. He truly was in every single trade rumor, every single one, which surely is not easy.

You play for a club and you read this, and you are one of the main players. You are a young player on the rise, truly an incredible, great guy and an incredible player, but you read every summer: 'He is not good enough. We need someone new and a bigger star.' It surely was not easy for him."

Some similarities to Jaylen and what he has gone through.

The Chicago Bulls are among the teams expected to have interest in Powell as free agency nears, league sources told HoopsHype. The 33-year-old guard is a career 39.6 percent three-point shooter.

The Detroit Pistons have also been linked to Powell as a potential suitor. Yet, it remains to be seen how the acquisition of Isaiah Joe could impact Detroit?s pursuit of Powell.

HoopsHype

I did not and do not get DET harming their cap space for Isaiah Joe. Such a limited player. I think they are going to live to regret that decision. Norm Powell is a much better player.

If Chicago does get Norm Powell,

G: Josh Giddey, Tre Jones
G: Norm Powell
F: Matas Buzelis, Okoro
F: Caleb Wilson, Pat Williams
C: Nic Claxton

I'd prefer to have a 2nd ball-handler in there alongside Giddey. I don't think Norm Powell is the best fit. Still, it is a strong 5 man group compared to what they finished with last season.

The Pistons have maintained a strong desire to keep their 22-year-old, All-NBA center. Fellow All-NBA selection, Cade Cunningham, also wants Duren back, according to league sources.

Within league circles, there?s a belief that Duren is seeking close to $40 million annually, or roughly 25 percent of the NBA?s salary cap.

Ultimately, multiple NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype project Duren to remain with the Pistons and land somewhere around the mid-30s annually once the smoke clears from negotiations.

The mid-30s would be fine for Duren. Probably what he is worth. Not even paying extra for potential. So if he does develop at all, that could become a very good contract for whoever gets him.

Furthermore, Pistons guard Marcus Sasser is said to be available on the trade market, according to NBA executives around the league who've spoken with HoopsHype.

Sasser, a career 38.6 percent 3-point shooter, has a $5.20 million salary for the upcoming season and will then be eligible for restricted free agency the following year.

HoopsHype

I'd take Sasser as our backup guard. I'd prefer him over Brandon Williams. Two different types of guards. Sasser more a 3+D guard. B Williams a lightening quick firebug who create his own offense.
