Wow, Isaiah Stewart traded to the Grizzlies for 3 second round picks
It is really disappointing we didn?t try to beat that. Brad better have something bigger going on. Not actively trying to get a guy like Stewart who is both a great fit and affordable is strange
Yeah...3 second round picks is nothing. Someone wake Brad up.
So we literally did not have three seconds to trade. So it would have been a first.
Would people have been upset if we gave up #27 for him? If he was available today, he was very likely available yesterday, too
I would have, yes. He was not worth a first in my mind. But also the Pistons are clearing cap room and would have wanted our 2027 1st instead.
the difference between three seconds (depending on which they are) and a late first isn't that much, and from what I understand next year's draft is underwhelming.
That said I wouldn't have traded a first for him. He makes almost exactly the MLE so the question is would you rather trade a first + not use the MLE to get Stewart or just see what you can do with the MLE? I think the answer is obviously door two.
So, serious question then. Assuming no major trades, who do you think we should target with the MLE? Stewart is a much better fit and much more affordable than many other players. We have people here wanting to trade for Myles freaking Turner.
My top big man target with the MLE is Mitchell Robinson. I think he is better than Stewart, and a better fit. I would also be fine with Mark Williams, would be interested in potentially bringing Porzingis back, or Time Lord back. Mamu would be a different type of big, but also one worth exploring. There are plenty of big man options out there in free agency, who will come in at or under the MLE, and to the degree we make a trade for a player, it should be for a guard, since that position is pretty barren in free agency.
