Wow, Isaiah Stewart traded to the Grizzlies for 3 second round picks

It is really disappointing we didn?t try to beat that. Brad better have something bigger going on. Not actively trying to get a guy like Stewart who is both a great fit and affordable is strange

Yeah...3 second round picks is nothing. Someone wake Brad up.

So we literally did not have three seconds to trade.  So it would have been a first.

Would people have been upset if we gave up #27 for him? If he was available today, he was very likely available yesterday, too

So much for Hauser being sent there for him. Looks like ole Sam will be back in Boston again next season.

Not necessarily.  The Pistons are trying to create cap space for a major signing, but they might miss out on a target and then have to pivot.  Also, it is not as if the Pistons were the only potential partner.  They were a logical one for draft night.  But it is very weird you are convinced that nothing will happen when free agency is still a week away and the cap numbers have not even been set yet.  The offseason has barely started, my dude.

I would have, yes.  He was not worth a first in my mind.  But also the Pistons are clearing cap room and would have wanted our 2027 1st instead.

I have said that Brad will address needs via FA. He pretty much has to.

I just do not feel this roster is going to change drastically like a lot of people bought into. I think Giannis was the big move and it didn't work out.

the difference between three seconds (depending on which they are) and a late first isn't that much, and from what I understand next year's draft is underwhelming.

That said I wouldn't have traded a first for him. He makes almost exactly the MLE so the question is would you rather trade a first + not use the MLE to get Stewart or just see what you can do with the MLE? I think the answer is obviously door two.

Yeah I liked Stewart too, but I am sure Detroit were not too enthusiastic about strengthening an eastern rival. I would imagine it would have taken a massive overpay for Boston to have gotten Stewart.

So, serious question then. Assuming no major trades, who do you think we should target with the MLE? Stewart is a much better fit and much more affordable than many other players. We have people here wanting to trade for Myles freaking Turner.

LaMelo Ball is apparently being aggressively pursued (and likely shopped).  Wonder if the C's have talked Ball and Brown as the main components of a trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

My top big man target with the MLE is Mitchell Robinson.  I think he is better than Stewart, and a better fit.  I would also be fine with Mark Williams, would be interested in potentially bringing Porzingis back, or Time Lord back.  Mamu would be a different type of big, but also one worth exploring.  There are plenty of big man options out there in free agency, who will come in at or under the MLE, and to the degree we make a trade for a player, it should be for a guard, since that position is pretty barren in free agency.

Adding Lamelo Ball, one of the most prolific three-point shooters in the league, would legitimately be hilarious given all the complaining about the volume of threes the Celtics take from fans.

Trading Jaylen for LaMelo Ball in a package might just cause me to take a break from this team truly

Minnesota has been linked to Ball. Could they still expand the Julius Randle trade to use him as outgoing matching salary, because otherwise they'd have to send either McDaniels or Reid to make the money work.

What do they even have to trade? I don't think they have a first they can move until 2033.
