Yeah Milwaukee has zero leverage. You want a King's ransom? Too late, Giannis and/or outside teams have that leverage now.

You can still get something out of Giannis if you trade him now. But if you wait until he becomes FA, you get absolutely nothing. Perfect way to gut your franchise for many years.

That said, hope Brad is also looking into other teams like New Orleans or OKC etc to pry guys over like Murphy III or Hartenstein while they wait for the Giannis saga to unfold.

I'm still in the belief it's Miami because when you look at Giannis Antetokounmpo, it's the superstar checklist of three things that Miami has here:

It's the win-now player. When you look at a player like Tyler Herro, remember you've got to get to $47-48 million in salary just to send out. Herro makes $33 million as an expiring contract.

Then you look at young players like Kel'el Ware Ware and Jaime Jaquez, two players on rookie deals.

And then it's the draft picks. Remember, Milwaukeee's got the 10th pick in the draft. Miami's got the 13th pick in the draft. They can send two future picks in 30 and 32. They've got some swap rights here.

So, I do think Miami's got right now the best package out there

So a three item checklist:

(1) Win now player = Herro
(2) Controllable contracts = K Ware, Jaquez
(3) Multiple draft picks = this year's pick, two future 1sts, swaps

Miami is the frontrunner to me until I hear like concrete evidence that anyone has beaten the offer that has been sitting there for a long time.

I was told a short time ago the Celtics have intensified their efforts to land Antetokounmpo. The source declined to get into the details.

Another league source said he was told the Celtics were more receptive to moving star Jaylen Brown, although it?s unlikely he wound wind up in Milwaukee but rather with a third team.

While the Celtics appear focused on landing Antetokounmpo, it is generally believed Miami remains the frontrunner for the two-time MVP.

I'm in the "no Giannis camp", but I won't lie, if I was a Bucks fan I'd be pretty ticked if I was trading a Top-20 player all time and the franchise's best player for essentially Jacquez, Ware, Jovic, 1 of Stewart/LeVert, #13 and probably 2-3 future first rounders that are likely to be in the 20-30 range from DET/MIA. Feels like a quantity over quality trade. I like Ware and Stewart, but that's about it, the rest are mediocre role players basically. And even Stewart is more a role player, not a consistent everygame starter.

I do think Herro would be a great fit for Detroit, him alongside Cade and probably a beneficial change of scenery for him outside Miami.

To me it seems like a lot for Atlanta to give up for JB.

I saw a "rumor" via Complex that the Bucks asked the Celts for Brown, Pritchard and three firsts.  I don't buy it, but that would a hard pass.

What is the bottom line on Giannis health ?
Are we wading back into Kemba/Porzingis waters ?

Also, if there was a way to get Portis along with Giannis (with decent health), that would be a huge plus.

The Timberwolves have gauged the trade value of Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and their No. 28 first-round pick in the draft, league sources told HoopsHype.

That is interesting. I'd love to see Minny make a move to get Ant & Gobert some more help.

Quote
After trading for Ayo Dosunmu at the deadline, the Minnesota Timberwolves want to re-sign him. According to NBA executives who?ve spoken with HoopsHype, Dosunmu?s range is projected to be somewhere north of $18 million annually and could reach the low $20 million range.

That is about the value I believe Pritchard will be at on his next contract.

Quote
NBA executives across the league believe Orlando will eventually have to choose between keeping Suggs or Black on the roster long-term due to their incoming salary cap situation.

Maybe they should trade both of them. Get some shooters.

Quote
In his first season with Phoenix, Brooks remained a strong defender, helped change the team?s culture, and became a 20-point-per-game scorer for the first time in his career.

At 30, Brooks enters the upcoming season on the books for $21 million. Looking ahead, Brooks could earn a potential extension around an average of $25 million per season.

$25mil for D Brooks is pricey. I'd feel better at $20mil.

Quote
Despite some executives around the league assuming it would be a foregone conclusion that the Bucks would try to flip Brown to another team to get future first-round draft pick compensation as part of a rebuilding effort, it?s not a certainty.

If the Celtics indeed acquire Antetokounmpo and Brown ends up going to the Bucks as part of the trade, the Bucks would consider keeping Brown, HoopsHype has learned.

I don't understand why you would be willing to build around Giannis but not Jaylen. Jaylen will be a better fit for their roster. Bobby Portis can play more. Get more value out of him. Kuzma will be better alongside Jaylen because Jaylen can actually make a jump-shot.

Taking off my Celtics goggles, if the Bucks don?t deal Giannis before the draft, I have a feeling they?ll fumble their rebuild hard. If I was a bucks fan, I?d want this done to recoup some value. Nevermind staying competitive.

First, I have tried Herro + Ware + Jaquez for Giannis on the trade machine and it doesn't appear to work.  I think it would have to be Herro + Ware + Jovic.  With Herro flipped to DET for Holland and Stewart.

I think the net is that in a trade with MIA, MIL would get:

Ron Holland, Isaiah Stewart, Nikola Jovic, and Kel'el Ware MIA #13, and other picks.

If Brown went to ATL, based on one proposed trade above (which seems in the ball park to me if it were to happen), MIL would get:

Kuminga, Kispert, Risacher, ATL #8, and other picks
(I might do Okingwu instead of Kispert, but about the same idea)

I am not sure it is clear which is better for MIL.  I am assuming that the "other picks" is similar.  In the MIA case, they all come from MIA.  In the BOS case, maybe at least 1 needs to come from BOS.

Feels like its going to end up a three team trade something like this:

Pistons: Herro

Heat: Giannis

Bucks: Lavert, Holland, #21 (Det), #13 (MIA), Jaquez, Ware, Jakucionis, 2031 1st, 2033 1st, swaps.

That gets the Bucks 2 firsts this year, 2 future firsts, 4 young guys on rookie deals an 1 expiring contract.
