NBA 2026-27 offseason trades, signings & rumors

What I haven't heard is exactly what the Bucks are hoping to get, but reading between the lines, I think it has to do with either a more interesting prospect than the Heat can offer, or more control of their own first round picks moving forward.

What they want is a young star like Paolo Banchero, Jalen Johnson, or Deni Avdija ... but nobody is willing to offer them that.

They are going to have to take a lesser package. Either a platter of picks and role player youth or an established star like Jaylen who is older than they would like.

If Giannis had of been healthier these last few years, there would be a much stronger market for him and MIL could have gotten what they wanted. But he hasn't been. And nobody is willing to give up a huge price for him.

Outside of maybe BOS, nobody is willing to give up an established player as a good as Jaylen Brown either. I don't see anyone else offering anything close to Jaylen.

Houston is not interested in making an offer. They believe they have enough internal improvement coming with the return of VanVleet that it is not worth giving up Sengun or Amen. OKC and SAS are already title contenders without Giannis and have the youth to be that for the next 10 years. An old injury prone player like Giannis is not desireable enough to break that up. Unlucky with the Lakers that A Reaves is out of contract. DAL are committed to building around Cooper Flagg and have little else to offer outside of him (old vet in Kyrie not desirable). DEN have nothing to offer except maybe Jamal Murray (similar offer to Jaylen Brown, arguably lesser offer than Jaylen). Minnesota have nothing to offer. Only Randle and some unproven youth (T Shannon, Joan Beringer). GSW have nothing to offer. Only POR can make an interesting and Giannis is refusing to go there. That is the West out except for maybe the LA Clippers who have the #5 pick & Garland.

New York just won the title so they don't want to break up their team. Cleveland has decided to stick with Evan Mobley so they won't pursue Giannis. Duren is a FA for DET and outside of him they have nothing to offer MIL. IND already have a settled team they are happy with in Zubac & Siakam and an offensive system built around Haliburton. Everything fits. Giannis does not fit. Even if they were willing to deal Siakam, that is a lesser version of Jaylen. ORL, ATL, TOR all have younger PFs who are their franchise players who they do not want to part with for an older injury prone Giannis.

There is no market for him.

I wonder if Charlotte should have gotten involved in the Giannis sweepstakes. They could offer Miles Bridges, Josh Green and Brandon Miller.

Brandon Miller would be the closest thing to a young star that MIL are getting offered. They also have a 2nd 20ppg scorer in Miles Bridges and cap filler in Josh Green.

Charlotte could pair Giannis with LaMelo and have Knueppel as their 3rd option. I don't know that Giannis would pair well with CHA's centers Diabate or Kalkbrenner though. Both low skilled guys.

If I were Philly, I'd offer Maxey for Giannis.

Make Edgecombe by new #1 guard. Giannis & Embiid together up front. PG13 at SF.

Maxey is not as good as Jaylen Brown but Maxey is younger at 25 years old. Gives MIL more time to rebuild around him. It might be enough to give PHI a separating factor over the other bids.

I still think Washington could make some sense for Giannis. The #1 pick is too valuable to give up. They could give up A Sarr though and a bunch of young role player talent. Keep Kyshawn George & Dybantsa / Peterson and pair them with Trae, Giannis, AD.

Alex Sarr would be the best young talent MIL are currently being offered. A blue chip prospect. A 20ppg / 8rpg skilled big man. A guy with the tools to become a quality defender and two way player.

Sarr + Coulibaly + Tre Johnson + cap filler like Hardy, Will Riley, Champagnie and whatever else. They would have a little space under the cap to absorb some dollars if they can't match Giannis' overall salary. Hopefully that would fit. Maybe they could talk Trae Young into taking slightly less money if it meant them getting Giannis to play alongside Trae, AD, Dybantsa / Peterson, Kyshawn George. It could be doable financially.

Queta was good last year; the problem is he just can't play that many minutes due to fouling and workload. I think I'd aim to bring in 15-18 million dollar center to essentially split the position. Like Wendell Carter Jr, Daniel Gafford. Then you get 48 minutes of better than average starter center play split between two players where the guys can just go hard for 6-minute stretches.

It's a very fair question. There are options, such as MLE (Timelord, Mamu, Porzingis, Nurkic, etc.) or trades (Gafford, WCJ, Bitadze, etc.) but it's imperative they add someone. I'd argue they need two bigs, but ultimately if they want to stay under the repeater tax they can probably only afford 2 legit additions and one of them will probably be a guard or wing. They could sign a guy to a vet. minimum but it's probably another Luka Garza-type. I'm talking legitimate additions.

I feel Hauser is being traded regardless. Whether to help trade for someone with the TPE, or just offloading his money and using it elsewhere I think it has to be done. Baylor/Hugo/Harper can see their roles increased.

This is my pipe dream, but I'm hoping Porzingis' market is nonexistent and he loves it enough here that he's fine just vibing on the bench at the vet. minimum and can function as a nice 3rd big and sparkplug. You still add another big with either TPE or MLE. Queta/#2/Porzingis. If Golden State doesn't keep him, I'm not sure what teams would be willing to sign him to a lucrative deal, or any sort of long term one given his POTS. GSW will have some decisions to make themselves including potentially adding Lebron, so they'll have to work the books themselves on deals.
