Keep in mind player polls with vote more for guys they play against.   It is not that scientific.

Dunn 's performance has been all the place his career.  He has defended pretty well as constant.

https://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/2991139/kris-dunn

His career averages are 7.9 PPG, 3.9 APG, 3.3 RPG, 1.6 SPG, and 1.5 TO on 44.3 FG % and 33.7 3P %. in 24 mpg per game.  Is this worth $5,684,800  for his salary?

He has been on six teams in ten years and he is 32 years old.  He is not a free agent so you would need to trade for him

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/20210/kris-dunn

We don't have a ready match for his salary and I for one don't think he is worth taking money back on the cap for him.  You could trade one of Baylor or Jordan for him but that is patently absurd, I think and taking an additional 3.204, 323 back for him is wise.  I would not waste a trade exceptional on him either.

We need to predatory on teams looking to shed cap space.  Sometimes you can get a decent player for a second round pick in these cases.  We can do way better than Kris Dunn.

My mistake. K Dunn was listed as a FA this summer on the list I was looking at. Too bad. He would have been nice.

Let's try this again.

MLE Level Targets

* Ayo Dosunmu
* Coby White
* Anfernee Simons
* Colin Sexton
* CJ McCollum (sounds like ATL will pay him)
* Norm Powell (probably earn more)

Cheaper Targets

* Bones Hyland
* Jordan Goodwin
* Gary Payton II
* De'Anthony Melton
* Bruce Brown Jr
* Jose Alvarado (player option)
* D'Angelo Russell (player option)
* Marcus Smart (player option)
* Bradley Beal (player option)
* Kevin Porter Jr (player option)
* Russell Westbrook
* Jordan Clarkson
* Gabe Vincent
* Brandon Williams
* Jevon Carter
* Aaron Holiday

Quentin Grimes is also available. More of a wing than a guard. An interesting alternative.

I'd love to make a strong run at Ayo Dosunmu for the MLE. He would be a nice combo guard. Solid defense. Very good outside shooting. Some ball-handling. Can play PG or SG.

Bones Hyland has been impressive for Minnesota. He has had a slow development in the NBA but it appears he has finally matured. Love the energy he brings his team.

Jordan Goodwin has been great for PHX. Very strong defender with a decent outside shot. He would fit in well here with his D.

I guess I disagree with the premise of this thread.

Obviously I'd always love to add talent, and I've been a fan of a player like Dosunmu for awhile. But our primary offensive creators are our wings - Brown and Tatum. After that, we have two really solid contributors in White and Pritchard at guard.

I think we need a big versatile forward to keep Tatum more at guard, and obviously our big position needs improvement.

If what Brad says is true he wants some players who can attack the rim.   Which of these can drive in traffic?

He also mentioned getting more athletic.

Ayo Dosunmu fits both of these pretty well.

I would have been with you until I watched Brad?s press conference the other day.  Multiple times he spoke of the need for more shot creation.  While that is what Porzingis was supposed to give us when healthy because he was so much of a mismatch, I do think he is looking more at the guard position.

My big takeaway from reading between the lines is that Hauser is gone.  I don?t think Brad mentioned him once.  So as I have elsewhere, I will mention that moving him would let us take back someone up to around the $25 million range with the Simons TPE and avoid the tax next year.  As he makes exactly $25 million the each of the next three years, and is a decent candidate to be traded, I would kick the tires on Josh Giddey.

Dosunmu will be tricky because he requires a sign-and-trade to acquire, and Minny will a) want to keep him and b) is too close to the tax to take back the salary we would need to make a competitive offer salary-wise to Dosunmu.  I believe he is an unrestricted free agent too, which will make him go off the board more quickly.

Minny will need to move salary if they do resign Dosunmu, however.  I bet the Celtics could get a little draft compensation for taking on DiVincenzo.  We could rehab him and hope he comes back in March like Tatum, or use him as salary-ballast for a future trade since he is an expiring deal.

Definitely not plan A or even B, but could be plan G.

Do we not have the full MLE to offer Dosunmu?

Do you expect him to get more than the full MLE? How much do you think he will get?

I think the assumption is that Dosunmu gets more than the MLE, but if I'm Brad, he's my first call at FA and we offer him a starting spot next to White in the backcourt.

C2021 is correct, though, that Minny is in a tough spot with the signing since they have a number of big contracts, as well as roster spots to fill. It's really unfortunate what happened to DD - both in that I feel bad for him, but also that he would be a perfect player for us to take in through our TPE since Minny should definitely be looking to move salary. I don't think we should be counting on him making a Tatum-like return

Yes, I expect Dosunmu to exceed the MLE.  If not, I agree that should be one of the first calls Brad makes, but I think Minny figures out how to afford keeping him with their Bird rights in the $18-20 million range, winding up between the tax and the first apron.

I would call OKC and ask what?s your price for Ajay Mitchell? 2 # 1?s ? Done.  2 ones and a player ? Done. He?s the kind of guy we need. He?s going to be great. Another Brunson
