Good stuff there.  I love me some Badfinger - basically Beatles imitators but really good.

I've been around for a while - 2012 according to my profile - but probably since 2011.  I'm also grateful for this forum and the longtime members here.  Tons of knowledgeable and intelligent people within this community.  My post count is artificially inflated from game threads, but I'd like to think I contributed some too.  Tracking Brooklyn's record after we got their picks from the KG & Pierce trade was a lot of fun.

I still remember one poster's doomsday prediction from the 76ers' "process".  That the masterplan of Hinkie and co. and their dedication to tanking for multiple high draft picks would result in a hopeless scenario for the Celtics and the rest of the Eastern Conference, because the 76ers would become an unstoppable powerhouse.  The sky was falling because Embiid, Okafor, and Simmons were set to dominate the next decade.  I remember pushing back on that narrative because I thought it was comical, and that Hinkie was doing the easy work.  Easy to trade players away, tear things down to tank.  Much harder to build a contending team with the right players, talent, and culture.

And so many others entertaining threads.  Fun stuff.

I agree with all the sentiment so far.  This place has been a godsend for C's fans.

Does anyone know when the Celtics Blog message board started?  I remember there was some kind of update or something in the mid 00s where everyone's post count went back to zero.

I've been here since the spring of 2008.

As someone who fell in love with the Boston Celtics during the 1969 miracle title run, I have obviously been through some highs and lows. Red quickly rebuilt the team after Bill Russell retired and I spent my high school years enjoying my all-time favorite Celtics era of the Cowens-Havlicek-JoJo team that won two titles. The worst lows were the late 70's when John Y Brown tried to single-handedly destroy the team, followed by the long trek through the 90's that was created by the loss of Bias and Lewis, the two core superstars Red had drafted to follow the Bird era. Those tragedies would have crippled any franchise and the attempt to recover by hiring ego-maniac Rick Pitino made things even worse. Kind of a John Y Brown Part 2 disaster.

So then the acquisition of Garnett and Allen to join Paul Pierce was not a move I supported at the time. But I remember as the season went along and the team was excelling, I very slowly let myself start to care again. That was the same time I joined this Celtics community. That team should have won 3 titles, but bad luck hurt us again when Garnett injured his knee during the title defense season. Still, I look at him as the guy that brought the franchise back to its traditional championship culture. Except for Kyrie Irving, almost every player since that 2008 season has been someone I was proud to have as a Celtic. Now, this current group needs a couple of Auerbach-like acquisitions to give us a second title window once Jayson Tatum returns. BTW, I love the way Tatum has traveled with the team this season while recovering from his injury. Kyrie couldn't even bother to attend home playoff games while he was out.

Forgive my rambling, but the thread title reminded me of the year I let myself fall in love again with my Celtics that coincided with joining this board in 2008.
Thank You everyone for sharing your love of our team and for enjoying the success of the past 17 seasons while also helping through the tough times as well.

That just exemplifies how much of a team guy he is, plus the fact that he is willing to consider if his return would a) disrupt chemistry; and b) deny some worthy players who  have had breakout years this season.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I was 12 during the '76 title run.  That's when my passion for the C's started.  Who can forget game 5 triple OT!  Yep, hooked!!

Watched that game with my dad (one of the few things we ever shared).

I still consider Game 5 to be the greatest game in NBA history. Celts came out on fire after dropping games 3 & 4 in Phoenix and proceeded to blow a huge lead. I don't think I have ever seen a game won and lost on successive possessions by miracle shots made by each team the way the 2nd overtime ended. Genius strategy by Paul Westphal when he was a player. Jo Jo White was so exhausted that he had to sit at halfcourt during free throws.

What a game. I was a senior in HS with a bunch of friends at a friends house. As the game headed toward the end of the 4th we decided to  pile into my mothers station wagon - probably shouldn?t have driven - but we were hungry and needed to get to the local pizza place in time (must have been close to closing but I don?t really remember the time). We listened on the radio on the way and then couldn?t get out of the car through the two OTs. It was incredible. I don?t actually regret not seeing it - the radio experience was great.  I can?t recall if we ended up getting pizza.

I was 8.  My father was at the game.  I listened to Jonny Most make the call on the radio!
