Might have the bruiser, check out what Amari is doing in the G-League, 18PPG/11RPG.  In 2024, he was a 4-star Transfer prospect signing with Kentucky.  He averaged 11PPG and 8.5RPG in 22.8MPG at Kentucky where they lost in the sweet sixteen.

I think this will be a "red-shirt" year for Amari. But hopefully by next year he could spell 5-10 minutes during some games.

Seems to take a few years for non superstar bigs to really become regularly effective.

I'd rather give up Simons, picks and even possibly another player for a center we know can play. The draft is always a crapshoot, especially toward the back of the draft.

I had proposed this in another thread:

Simons
for
Okongwu and Kennard

I don't see the need as necessarily a center, but a big more in general.  Okongwu fits that and also meets the "we know can play" criteria.  He is playing as well as if not better than Porzingis, with a much better track record of durability.  He is not a true center but I think could give you some minutes there as part of the overall rotation.  A 4th or 5th starter level player is all that is needed.

He's a flawed player, but for the price you're suggesting that would be a steal.

My question would be, why does Atlanta do it?

There was some talk about ATL looking to move on from him.  It may require more to get him, I don't know.  But this is the kind of trade I hope they are able to do if they do trade Simons.

Its strange to me that Onyeka Okongwu is being discussed as a trade candidate by the Hawks. If he really is available he could be a D White like target who the Cs over pay for and he than exceeds his value. I wonder if a package like Hauser, Minot, and two firsts is enough to get ATL to move him?
