Baylor Scheierman is circling towards being a bust. His sophomore season looks as promising as his rookie. If Scheierman was a young prospect, the Celtics should have more patience. But given Baylor is already 25, there might not be much more of a ceiling.

One of his theoretical positives was being more NBA ready than other draft prospects, but obviously that is not the case.

Given Scheierman was the 30th pick of the 2024 NBA draft, not getting much production is fairly common. Unfortunately for the Celtics, multiple players selected after him have already become productive roster contributors.

32nd pick - Kyle Filipowski (21 y/o)

35th pick - Johnny Furphy (20 y/o)

38th pick - Ajay Mitchell (23 y/o)

39th pick - Jaylen Wells (22 y/o)

44th pick - Pelle Larsson (24 y/o)

52nd pick - Quinten Post (25 y/o)

I have given up on him.

To be honest, I was never a Scheierman fan.

Scheierman is obviously a high I.Q basketballer, but in my opinion, he does not have enough lateral quickness to play meaningful minutes in the NBA.

At the time of the 2024 draft, I preferred Furphy. He had the athleticism and fundamentals to be someone like a Pat Connaughton. After seeing more of the other rookies, I really think the Celtics should have grabbed Jaylen Wells.

I concur, he is a smart player, but he is a streaky shooter and very clever passer.   He struggles with athletic players because he is not fast and not a great leaper.   His hand eye coordination is solid and he is strong enough to hold his position when boxing out.  Fast twitch athletic ability is one of the hardest things to improve.

He seems like a nice enough guy, but he doesn't have "it".

Passing on Filipowski will never make sense to me.
