Harden is not score first anymore.  He is a floor general.  He just need to stop turning it over so much.
Who is supposed to guard Brunson? You don't want to put Harden or Mitchell on him IMO. You need to keep those guys out of foul trouble.

So my idea would be to have Schroder start out on Brunson, and also start straus to make up for the loss of Harden shooting in the starting 5.

This also allows you to have Mitchell or Harden on the floor at all times.

Just a thought.

I guess they could go

Schroder
Harden
Mitchell
Mobly
Allen

That way the matchup better in the backcourt and wings with the knicks starting 5.

I wouldn't be surprised if CLE tries Dean Wade on Brunson. Brunson is a slower PG. Wade defended Cade Cunningham well. I don't think Brunson is any quicker than Cunningham.

Brunson has struggled against bigger defenders in the past although they are usually 6-7 / 6-8 long wing types. Not a 6-10 PF.

----------------

If D Wade cannot defend Brunson, I like starting Keon Ellis instead. Play Harden at SF against Mikal Bridges. Put K Ellis on Brunson. Donovan Mitchell on J Hart. Strus could also do a job. He defend Cade as well. But I like Keon Ellis better.

I want to keep Schroder in his bench role because he is fantastic at bringing in energy off the bench. Being able to change the tempo of the game. Use his speed & athleticism. Use his defensive tenacity.

Harden guards Hart, who plays the same position on offense as Thompson did for Detroit, and Harden guarded him.

Mitchell is probably on Bridges. Struss or Schroeder on Brunson. Allen/Mobley switch between OG and KAT.

Spurs' De'Aaron Fox is out for Game 1 of the West Finals due to an ankle sprain.

Looks like OKC already off to a great start

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Interesting 1st sub by OKC. They took out Hartenstein and put in Caruso. 5 out offense. Force Wemby away from the basket on defense. Make him defend Chet. Open the paint up for SGA & J-Dub.

It is crazy how well Caruso is defending Wemby.

Hartenstein came back in when Wemby sat down.

Looks like OKC likes that Hartenstein vs Kornet matchup for Hartenstein. I wonder if we'll see Hartenstein's minutes shrunk to backup center minutes in this series in order to avoid Wemby camping out in the paint defensively.

---------

Wemby checks back in. OKC takes Hartenstein out.

They put in Jaylin Williams instead. He is the corner at the moment. Spacing the floor from 3.

OKC 5-20 on threes.

SAS shooting badly too. 6-18 on threes.

There is that sub again. No Hartenstein when Wemby is in the game. Either Jaylin Williams or Chet against Wemby. Kornet comes back in. Hartenstein comes back.
